Just got my copy today, signed and all that shit. Also, having the digital download be 128kbps in my opinion is actually a smart thing. Now all those FLAC and Lossless guys are probably freaking out.
Considering that I BOUGHT the mp3s, 128kbps is just fucking lazy. I’m not the lossless audiophile, but 128kbps is just shit. This isn’t the 90s. 256, higher, or get the fuck out.
Sorry, I didn’t really clarify in my last post. It’s smart because for all those people downloading the album of the net, a percentage of that group of people who are going to want exactly what you just said, 256 or above. Which unless one of us with the physical copy uploads it on the net, people will have to purchase the actual album.
I might as well have downloaded it for free then. 10 bucks for shitty quality mp3 just feels like a total ripoff. Won’t be doing that again.
You’re totally right, that is bullshit. I don’t understand why it’s not on iTunes. I know that they were talking to a few labels to release the album… But they probably figured with their now limited fanbase, they might as well sell it directly off their site.
checkin’ it out.
all drums sound samey synth thinny shit just like ministry.
checked friend of the devil.
doesn’t even compare to bridge school one.
like, not even close.
another side project done bad.
just like ruined revco turned into stupid guitar mush.
oh well.
Ok I gotta confess. It’s not bad. Granted, I’m on track 3 and (sans for the first track) it’s decent. I think it’s because, what with what I’ve read on here as far as what to expect musically, it’s what it is: it’s a tinny-sounding, shitkicker record that sounds like it was made on a few grand. Well, maybe it was actually…
But, I’m on track 3 after all.
Finished. So far I like tracks 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 (yes, I do like it but admittedly the Bridge School version is superior), 12 and “Dignity”. So, that’s half the album. Honestly, that’s a lot more than I thought it would be.
The guitars are way higher than the vocals. Even the crappy drum machine. Any attempt Al makes to SHOUT the lyrics, it comes off as terrible. He’s got a good voice! In track 3, he’s doing a chorus and it sounds decent. Really! Dunno why he feels the need to feel “badass” on a country album…
P.S. What the fuck is with “Take Me Away”? They totally stole the piano intro of Motown’s “Lean On Me” throughout the song! Listen closely!
Hah, you know what I just remembered? I still haven’t fully listened to, much less bought, The Last Sucker.
[laugh]

I listen to scatterred tracks on that one every once in a while. RGB, though, I skipped through a couple times the first few weeks I had it and have never listened to it again.
Cover-Up didn’t even get that much consideration.
still can’t find this anywhere (to download)
My copy arrived yesterday. I managed to get about halfway through before going to bed, some of it was decent enough, but all the songs i heard are far too long, the drum machine is shite, and the production is absolute bollocks too. I found it to be really harsh on the ears, soundwise. I might give it another shot tonight.
Someone finally uploaded a bunch of the tracks to YouTube. I think I’ll get this album after all.
First off, at least it’s different than the rest of the generic junk Al’s been putting out for the past 7 years.
If he’d have put this out 20 years back when he first started threatening it, it would have actually been pretty fresh and original. But he’s been beaten by quite a few others, to be honest . . .
The vibe of the album makes me think of some other albums (all of which I like better than this one, unfortunately) - - - “GG Allin and the Criminal Quartet”, “Jello and Mojo Nixon”, and some Hank III stuff.
A third of it is really cool. A third is meh. And another third is pretty bad.
The electric drum is annoying. And so is Al introducing Mike before every solo “Hit it, Mikey!” . . . “Mr. Mike Scaccia on guitar!” . . . etc.
And the new version of “Friend of the Devil” is total crap compared to the original accoustic performance.
Yeah, that’s pretty much what I’ve been saying.
A couple of the songs are really the best things he’s written since the mid '90s. I’ve said this before, but an unplugged version of this album would be tits.

Definitely!
And if they did some performances at some club gigs with a real drummer that would be awesome too!
I know it’s an old thread but I’m looking for the song Dignity of the Buck Satan and the 666 shooters album and since I’m not living in the US I can’t find it and have no access to that song.
Please PM me if someone could send it to me.
Thanks in advance.
I’ll throw it out here…

Thank you very much.
I knew it was the place to ask for that kind of things.
This album is criminally underrated! Also, “Dignity” should have been an album track, 'cause it’s better than a few of the other tracks on the album. “Medication Nation” and “What’s Wrong With Me?” are seriously good songs!!!
