Just a heads up. Haven’t heard it yet but its there.
Is it still called a “leak” when the album has been legitimately out for almost two months?
has it been out for that long?
Lol.
Yeah, it came out it November. There’s a pretty lengthy thread about it somewheres.
hmmmmm. this is… interesting. not what it could have been, that’s for sure. first listen and only on second track, but I’m not cringing nearly as much as I thought I would be.
okay, third song now… is this the only drum pattern they have for the whole record?
OK this sounds like the Reverend Horton Heat and Flogging Molly blowing each other over a Casio keyboard demo song. I quit.
Fucking stop it.

If that is accurate I will definitely pass…

It sounds like a fairly accurate description of the initial two demo tracks (“Medication Nation” and “What’s Wrong With Me?”). I’ve not heard the rest of the album yet. If it ever shows up in an actual store I’ll pick it up, but I refuse to pay money for digital downloads (I’m too stupid to even figure out how to use one) and I really don’t feel like trusting the 13th Planet bozos with my credit card at this point.
Half of it is decent. Not great, but decent.
quick review:
The Good:
-Al sings on some songs and its nice to hear he can still do that.
-Friend Of The Devil still works
The Bad:
-production is awful
-most of the lyrics are exceedingly stupid
The Ugly:
-Al says “hit it Mikey” before every guitar solo
My picks:
What’s Wrong With Me
Medication Nation
Sleepless nights and Bar Room Fights
Take Me Away
Friend of the Devil
Dignity
Everything else isn’t that great.
I think I just like the harmonies. Especially ‘Medication Nation’. Why doesn’t he do that in Ministry?
The Ugly:
-Al says “hit it Mikey” before every guitar solo
BAHAHAHAHA!!! Ouch. That hurts.
I was listening to “What’s Wrong With Me” yesterday and noticed that this is a pretty serious song. Buck Satan lyrics aren’t all bad.
I live in isolation
And that’s just fine with me
I got a window for stimulation
And that’s just about all I need…
It’s like I said in the other thread - it’s a very disappointing album, because the songs themselves are actually good.
But they needed an outside producer to say “No drum machine, sing don’t shout, you don’t need to introduce the soloist every single time,” etc.

…you MUST be joking?! he RAPED the 94 version of friend of the devil. he dug up it’s corpse, and raped it’s rotting eye sockets.
horrible. so terrible.

Yeah but if Al didn’t cover that tune then it would be in line with the other tunes on the cd. I know he did and you can’t compare the two but hopefully you know what I’m saying.
It was released on 11/11/11:

Correctomundo. Besides, I am not sure what the love affair with that old version of the cover is all about anyway. They did an OK version of it but it wasn’t really any better than anything you couldn’t find at your local beer joint on a Saturday night. Nothing original about it. Just a bunch of smelly guys with long hair and black tshirts playing a Grateful Dead song. If I was there I would yell, “Paul, get your ass back on the electric bass and start playing some Stigmata”.[/reply]
the 94’ version is amazing because it’s al’s voice uninhibited. most of the interest (in my case, anyway) in buck satan was the fact that i thought it would be him actually SINGING.

Yeah at the heart of it, it’s a decent record for what it is, simply because it’s got SOMETHING that we can actually say is positive. I mean, I can tell you right now that there’s tracks from the last 3 studio albums Ministry put out that I think are awesome, but I think I can count them all on both hands.
I can at least admit there’s some merit in this Buck Satan record…but I still only like half the tracks.
