I also loved the little segment I saw briefly with Wolf Blitzer holding a pressure cooker while explaining how it was used for the bombs. They then state how easy it is to make the bombs and how the information is easily accessible on the internet.

The only good thing to come out of this that I’ve seen thus far was a press conference a couple days ago with the realest surgeon I’ve ever seen. The guy had just operated on six different people and had to answer a bunch of questions about what “critical condition” really meant, and you could tell he was dangerously close to blowing up and keeping it REAL.

“Look, guys, I have a few stiffs I gotta ID and a few dozen more people to pull shrapnel out of and provided they make it I gotta patch ‘em back up and then maybe, just maybe I can sleep and be woken up by horrific nightmares of mangled, still-warm bodies, and get to do this whole motherfucker all over again. You mind wrappin’ this up?”

I think I saw that same press conference and I had like a major bro crush on that dude. He was so cool and relaxed but also totally in control of what he was saying and obviously of the situations he’d just dealt with. I’ve honestly never been more impressed my a press conference. I saw a pic of the back pack today on MSN and it looked like it was leather or tan. looked nothing like the dude in the white hat’s backpack. Maybe he set the bag on the ground in front of him…

I don’t know. I kind of locked in on it mid-way and was just sort of transfixed at how awesome he was. I honestly would NOT be surprised if he had served in active combat zones, though, because this guy just seemed so focused, intensely driven, and totally unshakable. I wish I’d taped it. He was too damn cool.

that saudi kid ended up being some random student who got caught up in the explosion. fucking racial profiling at it’s finest. see a brown guy in traditional muslim clothing running away from a bomb explosion (completely normal behaviour in that situation) = tackle, arrest and home raid. it’s disturbring that a judge ordered a search warrant without ANY evidence (other than being brown and at the scene). racist fucks.

Of course it matters.
When we’ve finally IDENTIFIED (properly, not just some bullcrap panicky witch-hunt based on seeing some brownie with a backpack) it matters very much.

Do we want to know where a bomber is from? Uhhh, yes. We do. We want to know his (or her) motive, whether he was working alone or part of an organization, what the supposed objective was, etc. etc. This is all VERY relevant and important information which matters very much.

That certainly does not mean that every time something goes Boom! we round up all the ragheads or some nonsense. And it doesn’t mean that, should they be identified as Arab or other foreign national or Muslim or whatever, that they are representative of such people as a whole.

I hope people start eventually using their brains, but I won’t be holding my breath.

They don’t really look Middle Eastern to me based on these images. The images are too shitty to tell and the one dude with darker skin is too hard to see.

The guy in the white hat is incredibly easy to identify though. There’s already photos popping up of him on the internet. His giant nose isn’t doing him any favors and that white hat makes him stand out.

• What seems odd about this image is the pixelization surrounding suspect 2’s head. It could be compression from imgur or some stupid, dickhead, made an otherwise very convincing photoshop image just to be an asshole and fuck up attempts at finding these guys.

• The highlighting of what is supposedly suspect 1 is still kind of up in the air because it’s not clear if the dude’s jacket is zipped up or if it’s someone else who isn’t wearing a white t-shirt underneath. But it definitely seems to be suspect 2 in the white hat.
