bloodlines

bloodlines itunes 7:14
bloodlines rant 6:34

???

huh. that’s true. rantology one is edited version of the full 7-min one. the ending is shortened. seems that original has just that ‘ending bit’ twice. the rant version only once.

as it came with the game i have the mp3 on my computer…

is it just me, or does the bassline sound like ‘so what’ in reverse?

Yeah the whole thing sounds like some shitty industrial rock band on Metropolis or something trying to cover “So What” and failing miserably. Uggh

it’s not “so what” in reverse, it’s more like “variation” of so what bassline.

this is bloodlines bass tab:

G|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
D|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|
A|-----------------|---5-5-5---------|-----------------|
E|-0-0-0-7-7-7-6-6-|-6-------3-3-3-5-|-5-5-1-1-1-1-1-3-|

and this is so what:

G|-----------------|-----------------|
D|-----------------|-----------------|
A|-----------------|-----------------|
E|-0-0-0-7-7-7-6-6-|-6-3-3-3-5-5-3-5-|

Everything about that song is awesome except for that retarded rehash of Mr.Barker’s bassline, freaking Monte. That wouldve been such a cool song, they had everything right, sounds like stuff that cowboys would be moshing to in the wild west. Damnit, if they needed a bassist, they shouldve called me up, Im never doing anything more important than playing for Ministry, and Id totally do it for free, live and studio stuff.

When I first heard Bloodlines off of iTunes, I thought it was just a rehash of So What. But after hearing it in the context of Rantology, it fits in with the other updated versions of the older material.

but still, it IS a bad rehash of so what. :frowning:

i meant ‘reverse’ figurativley… but yeah.
the tab says it all.

still it’s a cool song, but when i first walked into that nightclub in the game, and heard it i thought… ‘geez… someone’s a ministry fan and big so what one at that’ but then i heard the voice and walked around untill i saw ministry poters here and there and realized…

lol nice. Actually, Ive noticed a couple bands on the in-game soundtrack to Tony Hawks Under Ground (the first one) using Ministry material very blatantly, and not give any credit. One punkish band using THE EXACT same bassline from So What, and another band uses (its drumming though, drummers rip off each others stuff all the time, not as big of a deal) the drumbeat from Supermanic Soul. Maybe they gave thanks to Ministry in the liner notes at least? I have no idea, but if Al doesnt know about it then thats probably not legal, mostly with the song that has that bassline. I totally thought it was gonna play Ministry when I was playing that game for the first time, but then it got lame when the guy started singing. Thats a good soundtrack, lots of neato shit like High On Fire, The Clash, Superjoint Ritual, In Flames, and other cute little fuzzy wuzzy metal bands.

lol supermanic soul itself sounds sorta like a ripoff from therapy?'s “knives”.

If therapy’s knives has same drumbeat as supermanic soul… then it must be a ripof rrom
Ministry’s the missing [:P]

i wasnt talking about drums…
check it out anyway

wow… had forgot about that song… had that record before… but have lost it.

a friend of mine discovered ministry through that video… he kept playing it to differnt people asking them if they new who it was, until someone told him.

as for the supermanic soul drum…
i don’t know if anyone can own the rights to:
snare! snare! snare! snare! snare! snare! snare!
[crazy]
(or the missing’s: snare!kick!snare!kick!snare!kick!)

that is Ministry trademark drumbeat…
it’s snare!kick!snare!kick in supermanic soul to.

best drumbeat ever… so simple and yet so damn good. best ever.

Heh yeah, that was the coolest thing ever buying my first Ministry album (DSOTS) and the intro is the weird little guitar thing then bitching drumbeat.

Wow it’s funny how my opinion on this song has changed. I just listened to this again and, looking back, I think this is one of the best things Jourgensen did post-Barker.

Aside from ripping off of “So What” blatantly, it’s a great track and frankly (this may be heresy) I almost prefer it to “So What” because it has more variation it’s not as droning and repetitive (the ‘Mind’ era stuff was too repetitive IMO).

(My favorite version of “So What”, by the way, is the live one on ‘Greatest Fits’ the studio one from ‘Mind’ is just plain weak…)

Is that the same version as on “ICYDFLSU”? If so, I totally agree with you.

The one on ‘In Case…’ is a different, live version. But they’re both inferior to the awesome one on ‘Greatest Fits’ IMO. Also the version of “Supernaut” on that disc absolutely destroys the shitty original Trent Reznor one.
