Black Industrial Projects

So, do any of you know of industrial/ebm acts (solo or bands) that are either all black or led by black artists? When in looked up black industrial artists I got a lot of black metal white guys with coofin guitars

I Die You Die compiled a big list yesterday (some goth/darkwave in there too). https://www.idieyoudie.com/2020/06/05/support-black-artists-on-bandcamp/

Lol you’d be hard pressed to find many. You’d have better luck in the general electronic music scene

Isn’t one of voidhead’s homies in a sick project?

At a strech, I guess one could label H09909 as at least industrial hip-hop or something. They did a collab with The Prodigy on their last album also.

I was actually thinking of H09909 too.
And since you mentioned Prodigy, there was a pretty up-front dude in that group that was black, as I recall (I might have to Google later to make sure I’m not thinking of another band).

The guy that sometimes does stuff with the Symbol/Voidhead/GodBombs dudes is Angel Nightmare. I have no idea what else he does beyond he occasional guest vocals and dramatic stomping around the front of the stage and could never give enough of a shit to look deeper.

Are Death Grips “industrial”? I never listened to more than 10 seconds of them, so I don’t know what they are even classified as, but they opened for Ministry a few years back.

Also, I don’t think anyone mentioned him yet, but let’s make sure to give a shout out to DUANE BUFORD!!!

I Googled for 5 seconds but am already bored.
This cracks me the fuck up, though…

Lmao they don’t register their race you know. You’re just going to have to scour the internet for any local industrial groups with black members. There aren’t any at the forefront of the scene or what’s left of it.

Not industrial but very good none the less. Discovered this group a few months ago, very good shit. Support if you can

Charles Levi did some solo stuff with an industrial edge…and of course played with Thrill Kill Kult,Pigface and others…

Haven’t been active in about 30 years, but there was Code Industry out of Detroit. They had two albums and two eps on Antler-Subway that were quite good.

I just remembered Disposable Heroes of Hiphopcracy might count.

If they don’t, their previous band The Beatnigs definitely does.

Oh Jesus haven’t listened to Beatnigs for ages

Can’t say enough good things about Light Asylum. Too bad she hasn’t put out anything new since her guest spot on the last Knife record.

Anyway, apart from what’s already been listed '90s band Noise Box was fronted by a black guy.
I think one of the former members of Clock DVA was black, but there were so many I’m not certain.
KMFDM’s UAIOE prominently featured Morgan Adjei on vox.
In addition to Charles Levi, Jackie Blaque was a big part of classic Thrill Kill Kult.

I still listen to this Album. It’s like a time capsule for rap. That whole CD feels so early 90s. It’s a trip down memory lane.

Strongly recommend Light Asylum. Shannon Funchess is a hell of a performer.

Nobody cared about black people in industrial music until recent events. White liberals and their virtue signalling, everyone.

So… I want to provide some historical context here. As someone who grew up in Chicago in the 1990s, I can assure you that POC had zero interest in the goth/industrial scene. House and techno ruled the day. Those gigs/parties were more fun, the clothes were not as silly and the drugs were miles better. All the POC I met were either ravers or punks, and they thought the industrial scene was, frankly, moribund and completely humourless. AND THEY WERE RIGHT. Our heads were totally up our own sad asses.

I think you mean Angel Nightmare, he’s the homie!
