We all know how everyone feels on them, but if you had to rank them. I think a little crossed between HOTM and TLS, but I’m going with HOTM.
I find RGB to be my favorite, it just seems like the ‘metal’ vision of Ministry is most fully realized here (arguably more than Psalm) and with the exception of Gangreen, I dig all the songs. HOTM would be next, although I find it to be a more flawed release, the production is really harsh and the songwriting seems to be unfocused ie. going back and forth between metal and post-punk while not really being very good as either.
Finally, TLS just seems like it was written using leftover, more lackluster riffs and I don’t really like the drum machine sound on this album.
I don’t really think the Bush trilogy is that bad. Al said that he didnt want to play old songs on the last tour because the new ones are better and I find it kinda hard to argue with that purely in terms of jumping around to heavy riffs and fast beats in a live setting. Obviously, I would have also liked to hear the classics but I suspect a bit of nostalgia is responsible for that.
For me it was House’s Of The Mole by a country mile. It actually had songs on there that sounded like Ministry.
senor toot, you’re a scream.
Descending order for me. TLS RGB HoTM. I guess I just like the faster stuff. I think the only 2 songs That I really hated were Gangreen (Wow what an epic waste of track space) and Roadhouse blues. Blah!
Sad I don’t really remember track names off the newer albums but I have lyrics down. I Like the old man that shoots his Wife in the Bathtub song from HoTM “Fine way to end married life!”

I really like much of HOTM, so I’ll go with that one. “World” is probably a top 10 Ministry song for me. “Die in a Car Crash” off of “Last Sucker” is great too but the rest of the album didn’t have an overabundence of quality.
Lyrically HotM, because it’s the least Bushy of the Bush Trilogy. Musically, RGB is the most balls-to-the-wall ass-kicking, but TLS is more diverse with Die In A Crash and End of Days pt. 2.
So, short answer, I dunno.
‘World’ and ‘Worm’ were decent. ‘Khyber Pass’ was the best off RGB. I can’t recommend anything from TLS. Production was shoddy on most of the stuff since '04 but RGB probably has the best.
Ministry haven’t had an album with good production since DSOTS, which was their best produced and most diverse album. It’s been 10 years since that gem came out. Should have celebrated the fact… Still can.
I can see why Al thinks the new stuff is better he just wants to play faster, which is fun live.
Didnt bother with TLS, and there’s a big drop off between HOTM and RGB.
HOTM
Rio Grande
I like HOTM. I hate RGB. I moderately accept parts of TLS.
I think HOTM was the most diverse of the three. RGB had it’s moments, but it’s easily my least favorite. Even if it’s the most “balls to the wall” one on the block.
HOTM has No W (with the sample), World, Worm, etc. Very well balanced album, with lots of variety.
RGB it a straight-forward attack. Gets very repetitive, but i’ve always enjoyed the title track, Fear (Is Big Business), Khyber Pass.
TLS, a slower mix of the other two. I really enjoy Let’s Go, Die in a Crash, Death and Destruction, and No Glory.
Each have their moments, but HOTM had many, many more.
with such heavy content based on a president who at the time had at most 7 years in office left, when this trilogy began, i commend al in that once he’s out of office the music (well moreso the lyrics)
is kinda irrelavent. nobody cares about the stupid shit he did as opposed to bitching about the stupid shit the new guy does, so he won’t have to worry about playing the “old” songs from the bush jr trilogy… it’s like still singing songs about how shitty reagan is (was)…
does that make sense to anybody?
i mean it’s like when you hear an old rap song and they’re talking about sega genesis like it’s brand new and the shit to own…
as far as my fav, in the past month i’ve probably listened to rio grand dub the most, so i’m all sorts of fucked up over here
nobody cares about the stupid shit he did as opposed to bitching about the stupid shit the new guy does,
Hey Hey Hey, Be fair the New guy hasn’t done shit yet! which is a perfect segue into “waiting” How long is this mother fucker gonna take to get started?

1,000,000. Cover Up
1002
Hmm…
RGB was definitely more metal, which is fine in it’s own way, but HOTM did sound more like ministry. Hard to say.
TLS doesn’t even rate - just lazy crap (as someone said above: left over riffs - I’d say: Ministry paint by numbers).

LOL!!! Cover Up was indeed a steaming pile. I don’t think I even finished one song on it. I picked it up at Best Buy, listened to a bit of each song before skipping to the next. Tried again to listen to it once or twice over the next couple days with the same results. Never touched it again.
RGB, TLS, Cover Up, 572 Remix albums, RevCo, $30 Singles . . . . . . Al has ended his carreer in a horribly embarrassing manner.
I used to worship that guy. How sad.

HOTM was 2004, W was re-elected to his second term that November so it was max. 4 years, no? It would have been delightful if W wanted to run for a third term though. His own team would probably take him out.
I hear now he’s doing motivational speaking tours? How could anyone stomach that, never mind paying for it?
All of the albums have duds, but I found RGB to be the least consistant, the first half of the albums good, but the rest just has nothing special to it. If they combined the albums, and updated the songs so they had similar style, I’d be a pretty good album

as they would say on don’t do that on television “DON’T ENCOURAGE YOUR MOTHER”
I’d rate ‘Houses of the Mole’ as best. As others said, it was diverse and had some really good songs (“WTV”, “Wrong”, “Worm”. “World” “No W”). Plus the programming is good and Max Brody was still around for that album. The songs I don’t like are only ruined for me by the lyrics (“Warp City”). This album seemed like he put a lot of effort into it and I like the W concept and the hidden tracks stuff.
‘Rio Grande Blood’ was awesome at first because it was so fast and heavy, but with repeated listens it just feels generic. The riffs and vocals are corny and cliche. This was the moment where the George W Bush obsession really became too much. I think I like “Khyber Pass” and maybe a few others but I don’t really remember. I sold the album a year ago…
‘The Last Sucker’ never even bought it. I think I heard one track on myspace and at that point was completely alienated/disinterested…
