Ah yes, Maire Brennan. You might as well toss Mary Black in there as well. Loreena McKennit is also excellent. Had a chance to see her show a couple years ago. Really enjoyable.

Loreena didnā€™t come around here for the Lost Souls tour unfortunately or Iā€™d have gone in a heartbeat. I think the last and only time I saw her perform was in 2016. Seriously excellent show.

She supposedly had her ā€œlastā€ show on 11/3. I know she is in her 60ā€™s now but I suspect she will be back at some point. Perhaps not a full on tour anymore but something. She did disappear for about 10 years a while back so who knows. I know she isnā€™t too thrilled with all the liberation of music and has complained in the past itā€™s hard to make a living selling music.

I remember when the first Garbage album came out, everyone (well at my school anyway) though that Shirley was Marilyn Mansonā€™s sister. Whatā€™s even funnier is I got a Smells Like Children poster at my local fair that year which had Marilyn dead center, and a portrait of each member of Garbage around the bottom. Such a weird poster. I still have it in a box somewhere.

I dig Shirley, tooā€¦ she did one of the smartest moves one could do as a female rock singer, and that is not overly relying on selling her body as a sex symbol. Just makeup only, looking sexy.

I sincerely do applaud that, even though she looks like Gary Numan when she isnā€™t dolled up.
