Bands you just can't get into

In the same vein as the other threads…

Bands that you just can’t get into. You don’t think they suck, you realize they have artistic talent, they sell lots of albums, but you wouldn’t go to their shows even if someone gave you a free ticket.

Rolling Stones
U2
Radiohead
Coldplay

Muse
Skinny Puppy
most indie rock bands

I’m not saying they suck I just can’t get into them.

A recent one I just checked out was The Dead Weather. It would’ve been better without Jack White singing

Van Halen!
I respect what he did for rock what with 2 hand tapping and all but I just can’t get into him as a guitarist or a band! He obviously has chops and I can see why others like him but just not for me.

Honestly, Godflesh is a big one. I feel I really ought to love them but I just cannot get into them despite repeated attempts.

Also, stuff like Steely Dan and Soft Machine have never done it for me.

Also add (n) to (x) and Adult. are both pretty much custom designed for my tastes but I don’t really like either.

Tool
Mars Volta
The Police

Tool

Them too.

Jesu

I tried and tried. I like Godflesh, but this never did capture me.

White Stripes
Mars Volta
Rush

I want to like WS, but I just cant. Mars Volta and Rush are just garbage imo.

Nine Inch Nails
The Black Crowes
Megadeth

All have talent - none could tempt me to buy their albums.

Tool

Red Hot Chile Peppers

U2

System of a Down

BARFS

Bob fuggin Dylan
Muse
Interpol
The Arcade Fire

as for metal, definitely Judas Priest. I have their two most highly rated albums (British Steel/Painkiller) and while both have their moments (title track on Painkiller everyone should know and worship!) their sound just doesn’t click with me.

Agree with Bob Dylan, Skinny Puppy

I’d add Beck, New Order, Kiss, Iron Maiden (seriously, why are they so popular?),

None of the current “hip” bands like Florence and the Machine are the slightest bit interesting to me

Led Zeppelin. I understand their significance, I recognize their talent, I hear their influence in bands I do like. I just don’t enjoy listening to them. And I remember trying really hard to like them when my older brother was listening to them in high school. Oh well.

Jesu

Agreed. Drove me nuts when people were fellating them so much here a few years ago.

Radiohead. Yawn.

Florence + the Machine. Somebody here at work keeps trying to tell me she’s like Kate Bush, but to me it’s just another white girl trying to sing soul. Sounds just like Amy Winehouse.

The XX. They were getting crazy press for awhile, but it just did nothing for me.

Any hippie jam band.

Any hippie jam band.

Most certainly. I’d add the rasta element to the annoyance factor there too. It doesn’t get much worse than white people thinking they’re Jamaican talking about babby-lon

Kate Bush pisses all over Florence and her Machine.

Any hippie jam band.

This. Not that I’ve ever really tried getting into them…but I just don’t appreciate the genre.

Also…Hendrix. Again, not that I’ve ever really tried but it just sounds like out of tune hippie music to me. Vapid lyrics, derivative style. If you like Hendrix, you should just cut directly to the source and listen to Buddy Guy.

Honestly, my tastes are all over the map. I’ve never had to try and force myself to like anything since there’s so much I do enjoy.

John Lennon
Jimi Hendrix
White Stripes
Moby
Smashing Pumpkins

1002

Buddy Guy is bad ass! But Jimi cut a blues album that doesn’t sound like his usual stuff. Its simply titled Blues. Check it out

And I can agree with some above posts on Iron Maiden and Steely Dan. Iron Maiden is arguably the most overrated band of all time. Definatly most overrated metal band along with Dream Theatre.

Other bands I couldn’t get into:

Nevermore
Opeth
HIM
Oingo Boingo
Bullet For My Valentine
Lamb Of God
High On Fire
and again Steely Dan
