You lucky bastards. I’d give my right nut to go see this.

Why?!?!

That’s a TERRIBLE line-up.

Because unlike you, Peligro, who actually does not seem to care for “metal” in any form, I love a lot of these bands. FNM, JA, HIM, Clutch and Trivium are all bands that I’ve been pining to see for years. Meshuggah put on one of the heaviest shows I’ve eve seen. It Dies Today, TDWP and Alexisonfie ae just great to hear so I think they would be good to see live. Never heard of SDrE but I assume with as much talk goes on that they must have something going for them and who doesn’t know Baroness?

stick that in your pipe and smoke it lol

Because unlike you, Peligro, who actually does not seem to care for “metal” in any form,

What the hell are you smoking??? How much ‘metal’ do I have in my collection? Um…Quite a bit. I love plenty of metal - Mayhem, Mercyful Fate, Burzum, Darkthrone, Celtic Frost, Bone Awl, Xasthur, Sunn O)), Hellhammer, Immortal…jeez. Give the kid a break.

And Trivium? Alexisonfire? Meshuggah?? Clutch?? HIM?? Are you kidding? What are you - twelve? This is the ‘metal’ that has you slobbering in envy?

Did you go to Ozzfest? Subscribe to Metal Hammer? Think Testament are awesome? It’s all starting to make a bizarre sort of sense.

And as for this shitty fucking FNM and Janes Addiction god awful ‘reunion’ fiasco…excuse me while I get a bucket. As if there isn’t enough regurgitated crap out there in teen pleasing modern rock radio la la land, we now have to fawn all over two strapped for cash dinosaur ‘altera rock’ bullshit bands who died out ten years ago and were only briefly resusitated to feed their dwindling egos and pay off their Amex Gold cards. Fucking hell. This is what gets you off? Anyone would think Perry Farrel and Dave “Im friends with Alyssa Milano” Navarro would be too busy brushing their hair and hanging out with Hollywood hotties to bother attending a festival down under.

In case you haven’t worked it out - I’m not going to this. But I’ll be sure and remind my next door neighbour. He has two young boys who think Slipknot and Korn are “awesome”. Soundwave will be right up their alley.

Ha. This is great. It doesn’t take much to get you ranting at me. I love it. You should lighten up and realize when someone is pulling your chain Peligro, LOL.

I wouldnt mind going for FNM, Clutch and Eagles of Death Metal,

cue eye rolling and ranting from Peligro

I have heard Meshuggah are pretty awesome, so might check them out if I go,

HIM, I’ve been pining to see for years.

Wow.

You NEED to buy some more records.

On second thought I’m down with Krowe…

Ville Vallo is bad-ass!!!

“Im friends with Alyssa Milano”

Amazing tits I’ll say that.

As for that HIM guy I never got the big deal with … him. He’s a total wuss marketed for teenage goth freaks. Didn’t he get a penis extension or something? What a dickweed.

I’d really like to see FNM, was going to and all but then realised I’m out of the country when they’re playing here. Rats.

edit: this is to make up for the gayness of that HIM guy above:

Well, as long as you aren’t listening to it and thinking it’s the best thing ever, HIM isn’t so bad. If I had my choice between having to drive down the road and be stuck with HIM on the radio or hear Nickelback/Theory Of A Deadman/Seether/whatever I’m going to say bring on HIM. The music isn’t that bad for standard cookie cutter pop rock goth. It’s basically just Type O without the cheese, and too many people here like Type O to not give HIM at least a grudging “eh”. Like I said. It’s better than the usual crap we get forced down our throat on many radio stations here in the US.

Good call…Type O are sissy boys.

H.I.M kick Type O’s ass!!!

Him’s only good song was their most recent cover of that Chris Isaak number. Aside from that, I’ll pass. Type O mops the floor with Ville Vallo’s vagina.

Dude, Peter Steele would fuck your world up. He’s the only rocker I know of that did time in a prison and a mental hospital. And he’s like 7 ft. tall.

Well… HIM started out as a Type O cover band that somehow became it’s own entity. I’m not saying they are better than Type O, but definately not worse. Type O is goth “love” with a suicidal bent and a flair fo some of the cheesiest crap out there. HIM is a goth “love” broken hearted approach without the cheese but with a hefty helping of mainstream glam/pop. Anyways. This thread isn’t about HIM o Type O.

I was just giving some info for you Aussies and saying that it might be a fun day in the sun if you haven’t got anything else to do. Lord knows there hasn’t been a good festival come through the US in a while (IMO ONLY). Oh yeah… And I like jerking on Peligro’s chain. He used to get under my skin so bad a few years back so I figured I owed him one. LOL

uhm type o hasn’t been about love for a while. this is a kinda quote of petes. he said something to the effect of being “balding old and fat and i don’t feel romantic anymore” as to why he doesn’t sing lovey dovey songs anymore. lately he just sings about wanting to die (ex. life is killing me) and stuff.

yeah he got sent to rikers for kicking the shit out of some guy who his girl cheated on his with. and he had a bad coke problem at the time so he had to detox in jail, and went to the mental hospital and went through alot of shit before the release of dead again. At least he reunited carnivore for a while.

This is a pretty accurate definition of the contingent that has presented itself at Soundwave. They seem to be attempting to legitimate it by inviting creatively bereft rock dinosaurs playing purely for filthy lucre.

The FNM reunion is disappointing. Bring back Mr Bungle. But even then, reunions are fucking stupid and pointless. Best not to take the good memories out from the aspic…

However, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. This is just mine, and I will certainly not pay out on anyone who thinks otherwise.

Clutch, Eagles of Death Metal::
shit yeah, great fun to watch, but… they’ve been down here heaps of times, I ain’t paying a shitload to go to some festival to see them again.

I think HIM and Type O are pretty gay.

But not as gay as:

Trivium
It Dies Today
The Devil Wears Prada (fucking christian hardcore?)
Alexisonfire

Isis is just boring. Meshuggah is forced King Crimson technicality bordering on self-indulgence.

Don’t get me wrong, I can see why people like a lot of the ‘metal’ bands: they make melodic, listenable music, it’s nice.

But that’s why I dislike it… tough looking guys, posturising in an attempt to make up for music that isn’t all that brutal in actuality.

I’m going to get severely flamed for this: like I said, these are my opinions, you can shoot them down if you want, but I am not going to call anyone an idiot or disrespect them for thinking otherwise.

Everyone has their own opinion and ideas on what ae good music. I’m not going to flame for yours. Except…

Isis is just boring. Meshuggah is forced King Crimson technicality bordering on self-indulgence.

mouth falls agape
I can understand how you (and some others) view Isis as boring. But how can you say such blasphemy about Meshuggah? They are probably the most technical, original band to come out of Scandinavia in years!

Yeah, I regularly cop that response. Meshuggah just don’t get me hard. I can see why people like them though. I guess it’s more than can be said for my taste in music… Khanate doesn’t get many people hard. And few people I know can see why I like it… and even I can understand why they don’t. [laugh]

Also, thanks for posting the info on this fest.

Can’t say I’m overly anticipating this one either. Hmmm…yes that does all seem fairly hideous. The Devil Wears Prada? Is there really a band called The Devil Wears Prada? That’s just all too much.

I do like Isis - don’t love them though. Not sure I’d bother with seeing them live. And Baroness are ok too in small doses. Meshuggah I find fairly meh. The rest of those bands leaves me shaking my head in dismay.

Jane’s Addiction and Faith No More I have both seen in their prime and they were both great. Angel Dust and Nothing’s Shocking were the soundtrack to my summer of '93. I have no time for ten year later encores though. You guys had your time. Just let it be. I’m guessing Mike Patton only did this to fund the myriad other projects he has a pinkie finger in.

Best of luck to them really but they won’t be getting my dollar this time round.

Dude, Peter Steele would fuck your world up. He’s the only rocker I know of that did time in a prison and a mental hospital. And he’s like 7 ft. tall.

In other words…he’s a big 7ft tall sissy who’s bonkers.
