Australia : Soundwave Festival 2010

Clutch, Eagles of Death Metal::
shit yeah, great fun to watch, but… they’ve been down here heaps of times, I ain’t paying a shitload to go to some festival to see them again.

Who said I would pay? [sly]

RE: FNM/Janes
I saw the last incarnation of Janes at a Big Day Out because they were there, and I didnt mind what I had heard. They were pretty good. It did look like 4 guys from different bands walked onto the wrong stage lol… and it was dissapointing to see this giant metal construct lower into and hover above the stage… and then nothing happen with it, I wanted crazy rock theatrics damn it!

FNM - Patton has gone on record saying it’s a cash grab - I would see it for the fact it’s FNM and I wasnt old enough the first time around [laugh] Minus Jim though… ah well…

Yeah, I regularly cop that response. Meshuggah just don’t get me hard. I can see why people like them though. I guess it’s more than can be said for my taste in music… Khanate doesn’t get many people hard. And few people I know can see why I like it… and even I can understand why they don’t. [laugh]

Also, thanks for posting the info on this fest.

Well here’s something for both of us to check out then.

“Aaron Turner of Isis, etc. has joined forced with James Plotkin and Tim Wyskida of Khanate, etc. fame in a group dubbed Jodis. The band will release their debut album “Secret House” through Hydra Head on October 27th, the track listing for which is as follows:”

01 - “Ascent”
02 - “Continents”
03 - “Secret House”
04 - “Follow the Dogs”
05 - “Little Beast”
06 - “Waning”
07 - “Slivers”

Could be good, could be great or could be a complete flop. Neve know when it comes to Turner, but I do like a bit of Khanate that I’ve heard so maybe this will be gold. Never too late for a last minute drop in the best of '00’s thread, LOL.

This project, for what it is, is surprisingly good. Granted, I’m only going by one song posted on James Plotkins’ myspace page.

It’s very minimal. But there’s something really good about the song they’ve posted online already. There’s a lot going against it that would provide as grounds for criticism from narrow minded listeners, but I really liked it. Very chill… like Khanate, but in a far better mood with drums used only for atmosphere than anything resembling a beat.

It is only one song however… Plotkin loves to surprise… [:)]

Opeth murder the face off of nearly every metal band I can think of.

I hate Opeth!!!

Then again, my taste in music is generally decried by most of my friends, so there could well be merit to them I just ain’t seein… [;)]

I find them kinda boring too - but to be fair I’ve barely heard anything by them

Oh KROWE - you forgot the best band that will be playing soundwave

ANVIL !

…[shocked]

Actually I bought some Anvil LP’s a few years back as they were advertised as being like Pantera… I sold them soon after

Listen to Opeth’s ‘Watershed’ album and you won’t be bored or better still go see them live, they are expert metal musicians. Amazing.
