It’s an interesting song. What’s up with the African sounding lyrics in it, though? wempathy, can you share any light on that “wagga bahhgga bo woaao” stuff?
This is one of the songs that Al wrote on his own, or was forced to write, or was written by Arista…you know the drill…in the fall/winter of '82. It had never been performed or even rehearsed by the band prior to Al recording it in Boston.
The chanting voice was supplied by an Israeli film student named Ziv Gidron. He had a deep baritone voice, an Israeli accent and had spent some time in Africa…not sure where exactly. Ziv came up with the words to the chant, I’m told.
I played the bass synth part on the WS tour but I never really warmed up to the song. Interesting note…the synth lead part during the break was lifted off of the Christmas song…“Carol of the Bells”.
Lads, lads, lads come on. That cover of What a Wonderful World was the worst song ever made so by virtue of that fact it has to be the worst Ministry song ever.
But that’s not a Ministry original. Plus, Thunderstruck and Sweet Dreams were worse.
