Alright chainsaw, here’s something you should know about prongs; the majority of us on here don’t like what Al Jourgensen has done for the past several years. Most of us feel that Ministry has been on a steady decline since Paul Barker left at the end of '03. Houses Of The Mole came out a year later and I’d say it’s about 50/50 on who likes it and who doesn’t. I had known about Ministry since '96 but didn’t really get into them til a decade later. Well Rio Grande Blood came out in '06 and I’d say (and I’m not the only one) that’s where they started to suck. They usually aren’t known for putting out the same album twice, but this album was Houses Part II. Nobody really likes The Last Sucker either. Relapse is kinda split from what I remember, but everyone says “Git Up, Get Out and Vote” is the worst Ministry song of all time. I’ve never heard it so for now I give that title to “Die In A Crash.”
In short, this is NOT Piss Army. We’re all jaded fans who prefer the old school over the Thrash Metal. We’re also not too fond of Revolting Cocks after '93 just in case you were wondering.
…I am not so convinced anymore that the problem is ministry or even the written content of the songs. The problem lies in the listeners. “We” if I may be so bold have changed along with the song writers.
Let’s face it ministry’s sweet spot for many has now fermented, some will be drunken with nostalgia, some will vomit. I absolutely convinced at this point the surviving members of that band have full intentions on continuing to make music. I don’t feel there is any reason to be jaded; they are giving perhaps more of an attempt now vs. when you loved them to come up with music. In the day, they had song writer after song writer producer after producer, financial backing, advertisements, etc. Now they just have you, them, the monkey, the trash and the bag. There is beauty in watching an old cow contract anthrax. So sit back and enjoy.
I think it’s lame that we are on a ministry site and the majority of people here just whine and bitch all the time sure houses was the last thing they made i truly liked but as a fan i’m still hopeful he’ll knock off the lame drum machines and write some non-cringe worthy lyrics. plus i’m hopeful al will use the very last contributions from mikey in the best light. but, to ask “who’s buying these records” and to still be on this team al team paul shit is ridiculous something i’ve wondered but hope is’nt true is the fact that jamie appears on main for months now and theres not a word about mikey i really hope that has nothing to do with this team bullshit cause that’s just sad and to be realistic this is a ministry site sure jamie tweaked knobs for a few luxa/pan records but mikey was the heart (if al is the brains and paul was the lungs…bill/rey would be the balls/cock) so come on we don’t have to be ass lickers but it’s pretty sad tht someone can speak for a whole board because peole almost seem afraid to admit they like anything past '03
I will say that I’m stuck on Psalm, LoRaH, and the Mind in part because that is the order in which I obtained them. Most everything else before or after those three, I can take it or leave it as filler. I like a variety of music, but I love industrial and other select metal.

Not me. I usually come here to “whine and bitch” about Obama.
He’s so silly.

Oh you.
to ask “who’s buying these records” and to still be on this team al team paul shit is ridiculous
It’s almost as ridiculous as your inability to use a full stop.
Or his poor punctuation skills.

I catch a lot of flack for still buying his releases, It’s not my favorite stuff but there is a jewel here and there. I don’t profess love because I don’t love it but I don’t defend it because I’m too busy defending HOW GREAT OBAMA IS! bitches!

Destructo is a total badass. He’s already cooler than everyone here because of his blackness. His ability to speak and think for himself and not give a crap what a bunch of pissy emos think about Al or Paul just makes him even cooler.
To address the topic raised, though, not all of us just hate on everything. I liked MOLE a lot, and bits and pieces of SUCKER and RIO GRANDE. I really liked RELAPSE, and as Destructo noted, I hope that there is some bits and pieces of Scaccia that find their way into the new album.
It’s funny that most of the people that act all butthurt about Al’s musical direction are also often fanatical about how great “With Sympathy” was . . . an album that Al has disowned for well over 25 years now and has in that time said that he had nothing to do with.
Al makes the music he wants to make. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I think it’s a steaming turd. But I don’t take it personal and don’t understand why people get so irate over something that they have supposedly already given up on. It’s like the ex-girlfriend that they can’t get over or something.

Not me. Personally I think The Last Sucker is one of the greatest comedies of all time - right up there with Caddyshack and Eddie Murphy’s Delirious, to name but two.
Seriously, what if anything is funnier than repeated George W quotes laid over tinny drum machine beats, three chord thrash metal riffs and distorted socio political rants that even a 12 year old would cringe over?!?
And don’t even get me started on that “radical” new Ministry logo with the anarchy symbols and whatnot…!

Everyone talks about how horrible the lyrics are on that “Sucker” album but I don’t know if I’ve ever even read them or listened to the album all the way through. I like “Life is Good” and “Let’s Go” and skip every other song. I’ve heard a lot of support for “Dick Song” as the worst Ministry song ever, though.

HAHA!!! That cracked me up too when he started doing that . . . mostly because I used to put peace and anarchy symbols in my name too . . . 25 years ago, when I was in Junior High.
I think the title track to last sucker is one of the better tracks on that album. The chorus is definitely fun to sing

I enjoyed the Bush trilogy to varying degrees. The covers and Relapse were a little much. I think I was more ticked about the live set being gutted

Everyone’s got their own personal loves and hates about the band. Personally, I think all the ReMiXXX albums are totally retarded. And all the covers albums were pretty wankish too. Also, RAMCO (The Revolting Crocks) didn’t sit right with me either.
As for worst Ministry tune ever it is either Get out and Vote or What He Say.
“What He Say”? Where is this track found? I don’t think I’ve even heard of it. Is it from “Sympathy” or something?
“What He Say” is called “Do The Etawa” on some versions of the album.
Yeah, that’s pretty bad. Other than “Revenge” I don’t think I can listen to any of the WS tracks. I don’t really give a crap about anything pre-Twitch for that matter.
The rant at the beginning of Ghouldiggers (Ghouldiggers!!! I mean…WTF???) is the worst piece of shit I have ever heard from any band ever.
He just sounds like a drunken retard or one of those Vietnam Vet types in wheelchairs who are forced to beg on street corners in the US because their government forget that they once did them a huge favor.
In fact I would go so far as to say that I believe it that Mrs Jay is forcing Al to come up with this shit just so that she can go shopping in Prada or some shit.
I can just imagine Al sitting behind a mic in the studio with a guitar in his lap, teetering on his stool and looking utterly miserable. He goes to get up, looks to his left and there is Mrs Jay, hands on hips, foot tapping and wearing a maniacal grin. She motions to a bag of pills beside her, as if to say “you want these don’t you?!?!?! well keep up the singing flyboy or there’s no pudding for supper, ya hear?”.
With a dejected look he sits back down, picks up the hand written (but not by his hand) lyric sheet and starts to croak into the mic…
Not all of the music is bad. It screams cash grab imo. Plays what he thinks the kids want, and what festival promoters want to sell. The industrial genre isn’t exactly a lucrative one these days. The metal festivals are probably a big payday for him. So if he can phone in a metal album with just a few months work put in, and still get booked, kudos to him. Doesn’t mean I have to like it though.
With the Bush Trilogy, I can cut out about half of each album and enjoy the rest. The albums “usually” start off good (with the exception of RGB which is very hit or miss) and get repetitive towards the end. Palestina?
I only liked three songs on Relapse; Double Tap, Freefall and Bloodlust. The rest I could live without.
My main problem with his post 04 work (I love the HOTM album) is that it’s missing substance. Like he’s not even trying anymore by releasing these paint-by-numbers metal albums. He doesn’t even listen to metal, if I remember correctly.
And what disappoints me even more, is the fact that he had such amazing musicians working with him, and they didn’t pull off anything remotely close to the potential they had there. That’s matter of opinion anyway.
What really depresses me is the number of people on other forums who are right behind this nu-Ministry shit debacle, labelling the last two albums “worthy” and “a return to form” not to mention “some of the best music ever released under the Ministry collective”.
It’s as if these people have zero ability to sniff out shit when they are fed it. One would think that crappy drum machine programming, shitting riffs and embarrassing rants against society’s evils would be enough to send anyone packing.
But no. There are legions of heavy music fans out there who are lapping this shit up! I’m left scratching my head and wondering if these are newcomers to the music of Al Jourgenson or if they are the same people who years before turned away in droves at the more experimental sounds of Filth Pig and Dark Side.
Either way I suppose I’ll still get a laugh or two from watching Al spew out another tinpot thrash metal puke fest and then drag his sorry ass out on the road promoting the wretched thing - giving the finger to authority, swearing, drinking and rocking out like some hillbilly fratboy high on moon-juice.
As if it’s going to pan out any other way!
Maybe Ministry is working on a dubstep album.
