For the lazy:

"But fair warning to fans planning on checking the tour out in other cities: Don’t expect the show to be a big, nostalgiafest. Actually, don’t expect to hear many of your favorite songs from Ministry’s heyday at all. While I kind of like it when a veteran rock band mixes it up with a fair representation of their new material, especially if it’s as good as Ministry’s last couple of albums, Jourgensen really over did it - especially considering this is being billed as the last tour.

The crowd was just getting warmed up. So it would have been the perfect time for those Ministry lads to pull something extra special from their sleeves to push things over the top. A little “Stigmata” or “Jesus Built My Hotrod,” maybe? Perhaps a couple of synth-pop surprises from back in the “Twitch” days, when Jourgensen’s aesthetic was a little closer to New Order/Depeche Mode end of the spectrum?

Well, no. Try a bunch of covers - yes, covers - from the forthcoming “Cover Up” disc. They turned into a bar band with thrashy send-ups of the Doors’ “Roadhouse Blues,” ZZ Top’s “Just Got Paid” and the Rolling Stones’ “Under My Thumb,” if you care to know, with Jourgensen cracking a big grin and shedding his surly, chain smoking demeanor for a bit some goofy gyrating towards the end."

8/10

I think the ‘8/10’ rating is how disappointed he was…

"But how disappointing was the overall set on a scale of one to 10? I’d give it about an eight. "

I’m just kind’ve amused, looking at that photo of the set list, that Al Jourgensen still can’t spell “Thieves” correctly.

You think he types them up himself? I Don’t.

I don’t think he’s stellar at spelling and grammar. There’s some misplaced apostrophes in the HOTM lyric sheet, and I seem to recall a misspelling or two in the TMIATT studio notes that were posted here awhile ago (though that may just be my hazy memory).

i remember him writing out the setlist once in chicago before a gig but passed it along to the tour manager or someone to get printed out. i was pissed because he asked if he should play LORAH and i was adamant that he did, and then he just left it off. oh well looks like i’ll never see that song performed live now. at least he did breathe and we believe that night.

Speaking of setlists, here’s what The Cure

how’s that for getting you’re 50 bucks worth… [sly]

The cure setlist literially plays everything since 79, maybe even earlier; think Killing An Arab came out 77-78-ish. Ministry plays all of their hits from 2004-08…oh wait, snap! And the cure’s been around longer too. They don’t pull this “I want to move forward, forget the past” bullshit either.

yea man, that cure set-list is awesome. top notch.

love the cure. i’ve seen um 3 times. ironically their setlists have gotten longer the longer they’ve been around.

I wished I liked the cure. (Damn they suck! -to me) that is a band that obviously knows how to treat their fan base as a blessing rather than suckers (lol the last sucker as it may be perhaps the last sucker is supposed to be we the audience)

jumping someone else’s train

At a couple of the shows, they went right into Another Journey By Train from Jumping… I think YouTube has a video of one of the performances. I’ll be catching Fat Bob & Co. in June.

WORD.

While I’m not the BIGGEST fan of the Cure, I’d much rather catch a Cure show than anything on this tour.

That’s because you’re PISH!

I saw them headline Sydney’s Big Day Out in 1995 than i saw them at Selina’s Coogee Beach do there splinter club gig which was FUICKIN DEVASTATING!!! Better than the BDO gig but then again i prefer club gigs.

Those gigs were great too and the standout song in my opinion was Supermanic Soul…that totally kicked ass live!

Next up i went down to London again in 2006 for the RGB tour…the sound and band weren’t the best but i met up with some Pishants and had a great time none the less and came home bruised from head to toe due to a pretty hefty mosh pit, or disco dance floor as i like to call it.

Next up is Glasgow late next month…the setlist is bad but i’m sure we’ll still have a blast and do the boogie woogie. Actually i’m very VERY pissed off about this final set-list but what can you do except express your disatisfaction over and over and over and over again until Al changes the damn thing!!!

That Cure set is too long for my attention span. What are they, the E Street Band?

That Cure set is too long for my attention span. What are they, the E Street Band?

not me, they will play 3 hours and still not cover half the material i want to hear.

I just know that the last time I saw them (that package tour they did a few years ago) a was TIRED by the end.
