So who here likes this album? Seems like most of you are “in hate” with most of Al’s newer music, so does that include Animositisomina? I, for one, place it somewhere in my top three (With LORAH and Psalm 69). There’s just something about it that sounds undeniably rad. Who’s with me?
I like it quite a bit, in fact it still gets spins.
‘‘Impossible’’… it’s pretty hard to top that one imo
I think it’s a great album. Probably the more focused version of what DSOTS should have been, or an extension imo (which is a decent album as well). There’s prolly a few songs I think are so-so and can easily live without, but there’s some really good stuff there (Leper, Impossible, Lockbox). I think more than half of that album is great, while a few so-so.
I still like it. It has a few duds, but for me, was a big improvement after Dark Side. Unsung, Lockbox, Impossible, and Leper are my favorites on that one.
1002
Light Pours Out Of Me! Can’t forget that one! One of my favorite ministry songs actually, very catchy.
animositisomina was the last good ministry (and co.) release for me. i like it alot, it’s a great finish to the “pig/spoon/animos” trilogy. it has a few new quirks for ministry, but overall it feels like it was made in the spirit of “here we are, these are our new songs, and this is what we do best”. the only thing that kicks this record’s value in the balls is the overwhelming assault of the high frequencies. i mean pig and spoon also suffered a bit from this, but animositisomina is the most trebly album.
One of the weakest ministry cds for me. It has its moments but overall is dull. Leper rocks, end of Piss is awesome. I like the light covers, shove, and impossible. Rest is meh.
I like Houses way more.
Have listened to it well over a hundred times and never got tired of it. ‘Unsung’, ‘Lockbox’, and ‘Impossible’ are quality Ministry tunes. This was around the only time I saw Ministry live too so its a special album for me in that regard. I agree with someone previous who said it sounds like a more focused DSOTS (the difference being: DSOTS-junky, Animositisomina-clean). Though I still love DSOTS so you could say Animos… is a less experimental album (less variety) than DSOTS, but a solid industrial piece nonetheless. I always thought it would have been cool if Al & Paul, after touring Animo…, take a little break and spend a good half year - 9 months working on a final album, a sort of a round up of their work as I thought Animo… could lead to another album. I consider Animo… to be the last Ministry album so it feels like Ministry were cut short so to speak.
Ani was cool but DSOTS and Filth Pig kicked it’s ass!!
I like Houses way more.
I agree, I thought Animos was lifeless and tired. When Houses came out I was thrilled with the shift away from boring.
It’s certainly better than DSotS, and there are some cool tracks on it, but overall it’s the one Ministry album I tend to forget exists (well, one of two now that the easily ignorable Cover Up is out).
I feel like the minority. Animositisomina is my least favorite album. There’s just not much on it that’s very memorable for me, and it all seems to go on too long. I’m not really bananas for the Bush trilogy (haven’t heard TLS yet), but I listen to them before I toss on Anim.
It’s certainly better than DSotS,
BULL-SHIT!!!
Animositisomina has no songs that come anywhere near the genius of Supermanic Soul, Eureka Pile or Nursing Home. That is Ministry at their all-time funniest, creative and heaviest.
DSOTS and Filth Pig are Ministry’s pinnacle…they can’t be touched!!
Ani was cool but DSOTS and Filth Pig kicked it’s ass!!
Agree 100%
I’m OK with Filth Pig but agree that Dark Side is great stuff. It managed to fold some older Ministry sounds into the Filth Pig wall of sludge and turned out some great tracks (and a few not so great ones, i.e. “Step”).
Ani was cool but DSOTS and Filth Pig kicked it’s ass!!
Absolutely DSOTS & Filth made Anim. seem downright poppy! Although “shove” is a bad ass tune and would have fit in much better on DSOTS.

Filth Pig And DSOTS are without doubt Barker and Jourgensens kingpins!
DSOTS is best though due to it being far more adventurous and funnier than Filth Pig.
Agreed, I like DSOTS way more than Animositisomina. There’s some good tracks like Unsung and Impossible but overall it feels a bit like leftovers and doesn’t have the consistency of DSOTS or Filth Pig. Gotta agree with MaggitTooth, nothin’ on Ani touches Supermanic Soul, Eureka Pile or my fave of the Barker tracks Vex and Siolence.
10/10 without a doubt the absolute BEST Ministry instrumental EVER!
Those frantic sax solos bring an incredible sense of urgency and fear to the song!
