Well after seeing Swans a few nights back I was worried this would pale in comparison…thankfully this was not the case and Godflesh proved to me why they’re my favourite band on the planet…they friggin OWNED Glasgow for just over an hour and it turns out when it comes to live material…Pure is indeed the best record. The Pure songs just fucking ruled that night. Everything sounded spot on…huge beats…thunderous bass…and crisp crunching guitar. Godflesh as it should have always been. I pray Justin takes Godflesh worldwide and keeps the beast alive for a few more years.
Zeni Geva were fantastic too…infact they were so cool I had to buy a shirt for myself!
Godflesh had no merch.

But yes, PURE is one mighty slab o’ industrial rock. I love it to pieces.
They can’t hold a candle to Tool. It’s all a bit too one dimensional to be considered a worthy contender for ‘greatest band’. Tool have waaaaay more depth than Godflesh. There’s more to sink yr teeth into.
Ministry (at their peak in the early 90’s) were where Tool is at right now.
Ha, Black Breath. They played my crappy little town four years ago, before they got signed to Southern Lord. I used to see one of the guitar players a lot, working at some music store in Seattle. They’re actually kind of cool.
As for Godflesh, I hope they come to the states. Please!
I am still spewing I missed Zeni Geva when they were here… what were they like Akbar?
I thought Zeni were pretty damn awesome. I am uploading videos as we speak so pop on some good headphones and check for yourself when they turn up…obviously the sound won’t be amazing but you’ll get the idea.
As for Godflesh…they were DEVASTATING!!! They wipe the floor with the incredibly boring Tool without breaking a sweat…so not really a compelling argument at all Peligro???

As for Tool…they shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same thread as the mighty Godflesh!!!
Tool is challenging music for the 90s teenage Pearl Jam & Smashing Pumpkins fans…I’ve seen Tool live numerous times and I’ve never been blown away. I can name a ton of “rock” bands who OWN them in the live department. Over the last week and a half I’ve seen 3.
As for Tool albums…I’ve always found them rather lame and uninspiring? They’ve never excited me or made pump my fist in the air with a big smile on my face and yell F**K YEAH!!! At the end of the day though that is just my opinion along with the live comparisons.
I’ll end the post with this…the greatest band on the planet sure as hell isn’t a cracker ass cracker rock’n’roll band…although my fave band is!

I really hope Justin does what Gira did and tours Godflesh worldwide…everyone who never got to see them first time around deserves another chance. I can die happy now…well obviously I’d prefer to die happy in another 50yrs or so…my girlfriend would kill me otherwise.
