I’m sure this will stop the heroin trade cold in it’s tracks! sheesh! Fucked up priorities… 6 million jews dead and it takes Poppies to get them involved in international affairs? So, for the Swiss, Drugs are worse then mass genocide?
Although, gotta say, I respect the Swiss for it, because Polanski got a new judge and he still didn’t come back…But then again ask a Native American if they trust anything the government says.

Awe, smrfy, you left out the part on world-wide terror. Some people would like us to believe that the terror is solely funded by the cash from the poppy fields; hence a war on both drugs and terror. It must sound like a win-win to most people in most countries that are against those things. Besides fear, how else could they convince the Swiss to cooperate?

You’d figure, “Nazi’s are going to literally starve you to death or maybe burn you alive!!!” would be enough to scare most countries into cooperating with you…especially since that was something that could be proven even at the time. The crime itself - yes abhorrent - but like velvet said how can they arrest him on something that old, isn’t the limitation on rape 5 years or something, or is it just because he didnt go back to get it officially dismissed.
Ok, now I read more (seeing as I wasn’t even a twinkle in my parents eye at the time it happened I don’t know a whole lot), it seems he was convicted 30yrs ago just waiting to be sentenced.
Polanski is a source of much notoriety in Poland, since he is probably the most famous Polish person in Hollywood, while at the same time being (allegedly) a child rapist. So yeah, I can imagine this piece of news will get a lot of coverage here.

Yeah well people still feel sorry for the fact that his mother was killed in a gas chamber by the Nazi’s and his 8 month pregnant wife was slaughtered etc etc…obviously we all go through shit in our life time and we don’t drug and poon kids so it’s no excuse for his crime.
The victim has tried to have the charges dropped over the years and has been denied so it really seems the USA justice system wants to nail this guy.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens?

Wouldn’t you want to drop the charges too if you had to relive a horrible moment of your life over and over again for 30 years? Sure, feel sorry ‘poor Roman’ because his mother died, and his wife was murdered 8 years prior to this, but what about the victim? What about the fact that she was drugged and plied with alcohol, how does that impair her ability to ‘consent’ as a 13yr old?
Ugh.
Consensual doesn’t mean much with a 13 yr old since you can get them to consent to plenty.
