99% single

As Akbar said, the most annoying part is the 90s style lettering. That represented great Ministry not this pile of arse. But it is just lettering.

And eh… of course the album is going sound like what’s in the snippet. You think they release some shitty 20 second clip of music that is totally different from the rest of the album? The music is the same sort of stuff from the Bush albums but the vox have got worse (reaching new possibilities of shit.) This is because no one has the balls to tell Al he’s crap. 99%? Please, could he be any more boring and obvious. Expect lyrics like: “We are the 99% and we’re not happy. We’re not putting up with Wall Street cos we think they’re really crappy.”

No it didn’t. Dark Side of the Spoon is 75% suck.
Yeah, I said it.

That’s right, those silent songs (tracks 10 through 68) are a total misfire. But those first 9 songs are gold.

X gets the center square for the win.
Late,

Those of you “holding out hope that it can be good” are totally delusional…

word.

The start was pretty cool but then it just kind of took a nose dive. Maybe it will be like how Reload didn’t really reflect the sludge of Filth Pig, doubt it.

You know, I don’t like DSOTS much either. I tried. I really, really did. Shit, I still try it now and again. But most of it is just dreck. Even the good songs (“Supermanic Soul,” “Nursing Home”) aren’t worth the time and effort required.

How fun would it be if this had turned out to be a Meat Beat Manifesto cover.

Strictly worse than “VIDEO GAAAAAAAMMMMEEEE.”

The title of this thread also gives an overview of the people who will buy the new album.

But I thought grmpy was married…?

[laugh][laugh][laugh]

Yeah, it’s pretty funny. When I first saw the thread I thought one of the Prongers was getting divorced or something.

That’s the entire song.

Also, “Al” has never heard of Meat Beat Manifesto.

I am low and slow

The song is out today. I haven’t heard the whole thing, but there’s a longer (90 seconds) sample on iTunes. They’re also going to stream the entire song on the Ministry facebook, but only for one hour on Christmas.

Let’s put 'em all away
Let’s put 'em in handcuffs

classic.

No bueno… Used my gift card to get it. How could it get this bad?

I listened to the snippet. Has a cool Killing Joke/Brick Windows from FP feel to it. I literally do not have a dollar to buy the track so I’ll just wait til it gets to the Tubez. With that being said the guitar bits are actually pretty cool. Not as bad as I thought I’d be, but I’ll wait til hearing the whole thing. I have a feeling that Filth Pig’s present day acceptance is what keeps Al going. A lot of his albums upon initial release get a lot of shit, and then years later everyone comes to terms with them. In all reality I heard Khyber Pass on Pandora the other day (the Undercover version, even though it showed the RGB cover art) and I couldn’t help but noticed how cool of a song it was. Eerie’s take in the song, and I’m being honest, is pretty effin’ good (I do admit THC was influencing this decision).

I may be crazy but I notice a lot of chord progression similarities with K. Pass and Isle of Man.

Looking forward to the new album though, hopefully they’ll fix up the cover art a little bit. And I’m still debating whether or not to see Ministry since I was in Taiwan during the CULaTour.

I think it’s oddly metaphorical that Al would be singing about the 99%. Ministry used to symbolize for us that there was something special about being part of a MINORITY that felt it either didn’t belong with the rest of society as a whole or didn’t want to belong.

It used to be the counter culture, anti-conformity, anti-normal, anti-everything . . . . Fk ME Fk YOU Fk Fk Fk Fk Fk Fk Fk Fk Fk!!! Fk ME F**k YOU . . . .

Now it’s about watered down Kerrrang!-friendly buttrock and sucking up to Guitar Hero and selling Christmas songs and sympathizing with stinky hippies. Screw that.

Lame.

The answer is simple:

Fuck Ministry.

Listen to Merzbow instead.

It’s what I’ve been saying all along.

Go for something COMPLETELY anti everything else. Something that really WILL freak out “the norm”".

Stop pussyfooting around. Grow some balls and listen to something pure.
