6 degrees of Ministry game

just decided to play a little game with everyone. Let’s connect Ministry with other people within 6 degrees or less. here’s a REAL easy example:
The Bells to Ministry
The Bells - Chris Connelly - Ministry

how about Primal Scream to Ministry? most certainly can be figured out in 3 degrees or less…

If you’re counting production, then the link is Adrian Sherwood. Sherwood, of course, produced Twitch in 1986. In 1996 he produced/mixed Primal Scream’s single Scream Team and the Big Man meet Barmy Army.

How’s about by last concert you’ve gone to.

Too easy for me. Reverend Horton Heat. One of his albums was produced by Al.

correct! I’ll think of more later. Anyone else got some?

A million points to anyone who link Weird Al Yankovic to Ministry in 6 degrees or less.

Weird Al did a parody of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’s song “Give it Away” (with “Bedrock Anthem”) which Al produced a remix for. Blam. Cool story/myth behind the remix also.

video direction count too?

weird al>hanson>coil>al

  1. weird al directed parts of a video for hanson (river)
  2. hanson had a video directed by Peter Christopherson of Coil (i will come to you)
3)Christopherson directed NWO & Just 1 fix for Ministry.

weird al>hanson>coil>al

Errr I just saw Wolf Eyes, The Sightings, Prurient and…

Fuck there is absolutely no connection there. Booyah!!

Unless you wanna say that sonically both were heavily inspired by Throbbing Gristle (the noise bands more than Ministry though)…does that count…?

Do tours count?

Wolf Eyes > Sonic Youth > Pearl Jam > Ministry

I’d say that any sort of actual “working with” counts. Nice move, It didn’t even occur to me to think of Weird Al’s directing. Take a few bonus points for successfully constructing the Weird Al / Hanson / Coil chain.

Heres one: Ministry --> Kylie Minogue

Not the route I was thinking off

Hmm…New Order is connected to Kylie Minogue (they’re good friends). If you find a connection from Ministry > New Order (through maybe Depeche Mode or something), that’ll be the connection to Kylie.

well the primal scream connection is already established, and their singer was on “Rock the Shack” on New Order’s Get Ready album.

I know New Order mixed in Kylie’s Can’t get you out of my head into blue Monday live. kylie did the same i believe.

So you have Kylie>New Order>Primal Scream>Sherwood>Ministry.

I think the Kylie New Order connection is sketchy though unless “sampeling each other” counts.

nice connection, fish! that just may be it!

Well, they (Kylie and New Order) are friends too and may have even both played some festival somewhere.

Well that’s one way to do it certainly

The route I had envisioned was Nick Cave’s collaboration with Kylie on “Where the Wild Roses grow.” Blixa Bargeld was part of the Bad Seeds (In fact I think Bargeld did the original vocals for Wild Roses and Kylie used his singing as a guide when she sang it) From Bargeld to Ministry there are probably multiple routes, but I think the easiest was his collaboration with the Skinny Puppy / FLA side project Cyberaktiv, and then you have the whole Ogre/Ministry thing, so

Kylie -> Nick Cave -> Blixa -> Cyberaktiv (either Cev and Dwayne or Leeb) -> Ogre -> Ministry

There are probably a few other ways to do it too.

Edit: The song Bargeld did on that album was “Paradiesseits”, does anyone know if the “Paradiesseits” on EN’s Perpetuum Mobile is based on that track?

How about:

Michael Jackson > Jones > New Order > Primal Scream > Sherwood > Ministry

Ugh.

Kylie -> Nick Cave -> Blixa -> Cyberaktiv (either Cev and Dwayne or Leeb) -> Ogre -> Ministry

Wow, that’s smart…didn’t even know that. I knew of Blixa but not of Kylie and Nick Cave.

Edit: Through New Order, you can also have Gwen Stefani there (as they both co-wrote a song together). She also worked with Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore.

Hey there! I’m new here and had to post a few about this topic. My friends and I used to play this game on our old radio show in college and as a result managed to come up with a few good ones.

  1. Jean Harlow (1930s starlet) to AL
  2. Al B Sure (Bad '80s soul singer) to AL
  3. The Olsen Twins to AL (this may be the toughest, but there are a couple ways)
  4. Whitney Houston to AL

So here’s some food for thought… I probably won’t post very often but I’ll post the answers soon even if some of you get them. Cheers! Take care all!
