$30 for a Single?????!!!!!!

http://stores.allaccesstoday.com/s-393-music-media.aspx?skinid=56

Christmas time, my ass!!! Al-baneezer Scrooge!!! Al JorGRINCHson!!!

I think I’ll hold out for Kwanzaa instead. Maybe he’ll let me pet his dog for $100.

Jerks.

To be fair you do get the last dubber as well if you pre-order… but $30 is a lot, it must be vinyl for that much

Fuck that! According to the e-mail they sent me, it’s a CD single, not even a proper vinyl one, but they don’t say that anywhere on the website. Sneaky. And that’s pretty pathetic how they’re trying to unload the excess copies of The Last Dubber.

I’ll just pick this up for $5 at a Revco tour next year, or something. I would honestly not be surprised. [:/]

rofl, yeah it will be discounted no doubt… wtf it’s a CDS?? I could maybe justify it if it was an LP, but for a brand new single to be that much. Shame!

Although whenever I see new cd5’s by groups over the last few years (Manson, Nin mainly) they have been $15-20 AUD for 1-2 tracks… probably because they are “imports”. Probably another reason I dont buy this stuff anymore… 10 year ago (god… really, 10 years) I remember picking up the singles for “the fragile” for $2-4 each.

Now that I think of it though… it’s all over the place, I remember seeing around the same time the 9trk Closer single for $12, and the “imported” pt. 1 of Closer for $32 or something.

Did I have a point… maybe that a brand new 2 trk single should not be $30… yeah that sounds right.

To be fair it’s hand signed and numbered and will be limited. Also to be fair there ain’t no way in hell I’ll buy it. Will d/l the single though. I’m sure it will be $2 on Amazon.

Maybe someone else saw something different, but . . . . yeah, it’s just a CD single. Okay, it is also “signed and numbered” by the Mighty Al Jourgensen. So?

It did say the first to pre-order it will get a “stocking of 13th Planet goodies” or something, but anyone who’s been around for the last 4 years knows that “stocking” just means “leftover stickers and postcard adverts”.

Oh, and ONE lucky winner will get a $60 credit for the 13th Planet store. Sweet!!! I can buy two more singles for my friends.

Look, here’s the bottom line. Two tracks (one of which is just a different version of an already released song) for $30.

Unless that thing comes with a built-in fax machine or an couple grams of Al’s leftover smack hidden in the case, it’s a plain and simple RIP OFF!!!

If someone wants to waste their money, fine. I’d rather use the same $30 to buy 3 albums at Best Buy.

To be fair it’s hand signed and numbered and will be limited.

They say it’s limited and numbered, but I find it very interesting that they don’t say how many it is limited to. Unless they cap it on release and tell us, “Limited to 2000 copies” or “Limited to 100,000 copies” or whatever . . . . I ain’t believing it. They can just print them and sign and number them until the end of time.

Is it limited? Sure it’s limited. It’s limited to the handful of doofuses who are so far up Al’s butt that this seems like a good value.

I don’t know how many were printed but I just had a flash forward of many boxes being buried in the same landfill which now contains a million cartridges of ET for the Atari 2600.

No wonder it’s $30, there’s an easter egg on the 13th Planet site that takes you to a page with the actual track listing. It’s a bargain!

Good point about there not being a predetermined number of the beasts, I’m sure it is limited to “how ever many we think we can sell”.

$30 is insane.

I’m sorry but that’s kind of taking the “hard-core” fans for a ride.

It saddens me that our once worshipped band keeps slipping.

“doofuses”.
thanks, gunnar. hate to say i told you so about the AA camp, but paranoia does wonders in the minds of the greedy. thirty bucks. wow. delusional is another word that comes to mind.

I’ll be the voice of contention here, but I think this is exactly what Al and 13th Planet SHOULD be doing - catering their physical product to the collector’s market. Casual fans (or ones like me who are hardcore but more interested in the songs than the product) can download for a buck or two, and the serious fan can shell out the extra dough. NIN did it with The Slip, and I suspect we’ll be seeing it a lot more of this with musicians like Al and Trent that have a built in fanbase and control their own releases.

Now, Al and co. may find that $30 is above what people are willing to pay for a cd single, and if that’s the case I’m sure they’ll adjust for the next release. But I’m actually glad they’re doing this because it shows that they’re finally realizing that the old distribution methods are dying and they’ve got to get creative to stay afloat.

What would Raven think?

Yeah fair enough… but the example with the Slip - that was a full album, with a bonus DVD and only $25 (AUD, whats that like $20 USD or something, now anyway.

Then again TR probably has more $$ than Al!

trent has a career ahead of him as a sober person.
al’s claim to fame now is that he’s “clean”. not quite the same thing.
fuck that guy and the boat his fellow cubans came in on. if that’s even a true story.
goin’ to see some bands tonight for fun fest here in austin.
i doubt ANYBODY will roll out the 30 for that ripoff flock of seagulls “thang”. ( as they say in texas).

so I was checking the Pissarmy to watch for the cheerleaders as I was curious to see them justify this latest sham.

i noticed earlier that a few people noted the obvious – that $30 for a single is a rip off. I just checked again and it seems they are deleting any posts where someone has the audacity to object to a $30 single.

what a joke. Al’s inflated and fragile ego is in dire need of a pin prick.

LOL!!! They took all the comments off and put it back up as a sticky thread so no one can comment on it.

amazing

thirty dollars of who cares.

in defence of trent (like he neeeds it) i remember reading an interview that was going through the sites where he was bitching how come his cds are like top dollar new and all the others get discounts on thier release days/week/whenever and his label guy said his fans were the type to pay that much so they would leave the prices high.

as far as the 30$ is this still a tribute thing? any money going to his dearly departed friend? or that all in the past

and the free shit thing, well that’s straight out of the ron popeil book to moving product… promise something free for a limited time to a limited amount of people.

trent and sascha (for example) don’t really have a history of ripping off fans so when they promise limited releases or cool free shit that’s a surprise they backed it up and people then trust the band/guys and so they can pull that shit.
I still remember when i first heard the “last” ministry cd was to be called last sucker, that it was al callling us fans suckers. “last sucker stupid fucker… BUY BUY”

and in the link it just says on lucky fan will get the $60 dollar thing… i wonder if that “random” fan will be a piss-army hack… and say you did win the thing, can anybody here name $60 dollars worth of shit on that site that really makes you hard with joy? granted i’d love to win it, get a free single plus and extra 30 to spend. (point of view change prize looks a little less attractive but still) then i can get a copy of the remix cd that’s a misprint and missing tracks and probably the revco cd that no store has because the band is a failure sorry they’re nice guys but it’s true and… eh nevermind it’s 4:38 and i haven’t slept yet and i’m being mean :cough cough: honest :cough cough:
and to be real honest after saying all that, i’m compulsive and will wind up buying it in a moment of weakness… guess i’m the sucker

This is catering to the collector’s market:

Collector’s like to feel like we’re getting something special. Al is just selling two songs for $30.
