1000 Homo Gaygays
1000 gaygunners
1000 gaygunners
This is actually funny right now because I’m a little drunk…
YYYYYYYYYYYpppppppppuuuuunnnnnch it is funny…gunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnerrrrrrr…suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks…
I bought a super nice top hat for Halloween one year at Hot Topic, 1997 or '98. I’ve still got it and it’s still better than anything similar I’ve seen except at antique stores. They really did used to have quality merchandise.
I have just listened to all the versions i have including Cover up, Side trax, Greatest fits & 1000 homo djs ep and i think they are all Trent Reznor, all with distortion except the side trax version.
I think I have this solved.
The original version is Trent (released on the Wax Trax! first 10 years box set; and upcoming Trax! Box)
The EP is Al.
The Side Trax version is Trent (at least the first mono pressing is, I did a side by side comparison to the original version and they are identical)
The Greatest Fits and Cover up versions are Al.
To rev_skarekroe,
The version on greatest fits is an absolute gem!
Al’s full of bolognese, the EP version is definitely his voice…he just felt like fucking with TVT execs & CEO at the time & rightfully so…those scumbags would have ruined Trent’s career if they had the chance. Trent fought them off hard and prevailed victorious.
The fact that TVT would have the opportunity to buy out the WaxTrax catalog years later is such a serendipitous evil…but I guess they were the highest bidder, even more cryptic irony is that JOURGENSEN actually made serious coin from that deal cuz Danny & Jim cut him in as Partner.
After all the 12" singles compilation saved WaxTrax from closing down due to impending bankruptcy. The story would play out as such a great Biopic epic flick.
Synth-Pop Al saved the day for good ole WaxTrax only to be thwarted & trumped later on by the evil conglomerate TVT ENTERPRISES…so topsy turvy, hey…and such is the world [:|]
I think before any of the releases of Supernaut came out, there was this Wax Trax! Sampler cassette:
http://www.discogs.com/Various--Wax-Trax-Sampler-2/release/1563339
I got my hands on this tape from the record store I worked at during that time. Pretty sure this is the first time I ever heard the “Supernaut” track, and there were a lot of other yet-to-be-released tracks on this tape. Exciting times!
Question is, which version was on there? I’m thinking there is a good chance it was the Trent Reznor version, and it got switched to Al’s version when the record actually came out.
So it’s kinda like this, I think:
12" Test Pressings: Trent
Wax Trax Promo Sampler #1 cassette: Trent(?)
Final 12"/cassette/CD EP release: Al
Black Box: Trent
Side Trax: Trent(?)
Cover-Up/Greatest Fits: Re-recorded Al
Trax! Trent(?)
So if this is true, it turns out it’s the Al non-re-recorded version that’s now much harder to come by, because all the other releases have featured the Trent vocals. Ironic.

I believe you are correct on all accounts. The Side Trax version is also Trent. Trax Box! Should have the Al version on the Side Trax CD, since the Trent Version is included on the rarities CD.
I wouldn’t be surprised though if they’re duplicate tracks. I could see at least 3 potential errors coming up on Trax! Box.

It wouldn’t be a Cleopatra release without some misspellings and track errors, would it? (despite the fact that their quality seems to be getting better these days…)

The mistake they made me with the PIG album Praise The Lard was atrocious…
