As someone who does this for a living, it’s obvious the official release is al. I don’t know what kind of power people think people have in the studio, especially back then, but you can’t just distort a vocal and pitch it down a bit and have it sound like a completely different person. The inflections, everything are clearly Al. I can get confirmation from people I know who worked on this if it will help put the rumors to rest.
I really don’t know where the urban legend got started, can anyone point to an interview (and it’s not like we all don’t know Al exaggerates and makes things up).

It won’t.
But it will help us better form and solidify our teams, so I think we’d all look forward to such input anyway.[/reply]
what’s crazy to me is that a) people think these sound remotely the same, and b) people think you can just just distort one person to sound like another. It’s ridiculous how naive people can be. Where did this silliness start and does anyone have a link?

I don’t know. I’ve only heard/read second and third hand references TO "well Al claimed that . . . ". I assumed that Jourgensen had mentioned it in some interviews or something, but I don’t know if I’d ever actually seen such references.
And like JayCartoon noted, what benefit will it add to the debate even if we do get word from Al directly. Half the time he’s lying. Sometimes he’s remembering something completely WRONG. And the rest of the time he’s just blowing smoke and messing with people (many of whom can’t detect sarcasm and take his drunken bullshit as gospel truth).
Anyway, while I agree with you that it is TWO different singers, I don’t think the debate will EVER be resolved. I kind of like it that way.
I was just wondering this the other day (again). All i have these 2 versions on are “Side Trax”, which reminds me of Trent, then “Cover Up” which sounds like Al. Never bought the single, so that talk leaves me clueless…For the record, i like the Side Trax version more…
The version on the “Black Box” set is universally accepted as Trent. This is, to my knowledge, the only official release of this Trent version.
The version on “Side Trax” is the same that came on the original purple font EP. It is questioned by many as to whether it is Al, or it is a distorted Trent (I think it is Al and so does everyone else that has common sense).
The version on “Cover Up” is just a gayer cut of the same above. It is the same “Al” vocals (or modified Trent vocals if you are smoking dope) as on the EP and “Side Tracks”.

I hope that helps clarify.
My ears just hear Trent on the Side Trax version - a bit more “yappie” sounding. I’ll check the youtube links when i can hear sound from a computer. The Cover Up album version sucks IMO - very dead sounding…track 69 rules, though… Thanks as always, Gunnar for the input…
I don’t have “Side Tracks”, but someone had told me that it just had the EP on it and nothing had changed. Perhaps someone can confirm for certain, though.
The copy I had had Trent at the beginning, then during the line “I’ve lived a thousand years and it never bothered meeeeeeeeeee” it distorts and sounds more like Al. I believe I had the stereo release of it as well.

I see what you did there…[/reply]
What did I do?
I’m only trying to figure out what song YOU are talking about, and if it differs from any of the other aforementioned versions.
the first (and so far only) time I’ve seen Ministry live, Ogre sang vocals on Supernaut. This was also my second concert ever and I was going nuts the whole time…youthful energy…

I thought you were continuing the joke of my irritating yet hilarious flashback of nu metal fags getting song titles wrong. So unless you meant TRAX, I have no idea what album your talking about.

I guess I meant TRAX. I’m now a nu-metal fag.[/reply]
Better take a trip to Hot Topic and get you some bondage pants, a Slipknot shirt that’s a size or 2 bigger than what you normally wear, some special effects hair dye and that ball necklace. Maybe some one row spikes for both wrists and start braiding that hair so all the cool chicks will think you look like Head from KoRn.
Screw that place! Their stuff is cheap garbage now. I used to buy my bandannas there before heading out to the shows.
The last time I bought one, though (for the Billy Idol concert) the bandanna was crap. After one wash it shrunk so much I can barely get a knot now to tie it in the back. And I can only rock it Springsteen-style or as a Muirdana. I can’t go full pirate because there’s not enough to cover my head and still tie it.
Also, the fabric is thinner than one of Glenn Danzig’s mesh tops now.

They suck even during Halloween now. I can’t even remember the last time I saw a shirt I wanted from there, though I do remember it had a young Keith Richards on it looking pissed off. Rather surprised to see it amidst bands like The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus…

I got no issue with any of the bands Hot Topic promotes via their merchandise. Their customers are not 41 year old men, typically. They’re a youth-oriented store, so the shirts and merch will reflect that.
I know they won’t likely miss the $5 that I spend every 4-5 years, but I’m cutting them off regardless. I’ll get my bandannas for 99 cents at Wal-Mart instead.
