The purpose of the judge is to decide what is fair and act on it. You can’t say that a judge is not being fair because the judge defines what is fair. If you are saying that the legal system is corrupt and that the judge was guilty of fraud then I think you should put on a tin hat and join the rest of the nut cases. My point is, what’s to stop Zimmerman or anyone else from repeating this incident when the precedent has been set that in Florida…you can harass and question and unarmed person…shoot them dead and not have to answer for it. Where’s Martin’s right to ‘stand his ground’?

With regards to the judge…she didn’t allow evidence of Zimmerman’s assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest…nor did she allow evidence of Zimmerman’s fiance’s charge of domestic violence and against Zimmerman which was settled by a restraining order.
I understand that info on surface may be irrelevant to this specific case. but it’s completely relevant when establishing character and behavior patterns which may sway probability and motivation and such. I understand there is a petition circulating to get the feds involved.

THIS is very right. the problem with this case’s end is that it sets a precedent that can ONLY be dangerous. while Zim may not have been TECHNICALLY breaking a law, (and thus not TECHNICALLY guilty) what he did was moronic, cruel, hateful, and now the set standard for how actions can be lived out in Florida. the law needs to be abolished.
I had a discussion about this with a family member, and they were saying they couldn’t use Zimmerman’s past offenses against him in court, and that goes for anybody. still, didn’t know that about his history. not surprising.
He got off based on a technicality. He followed the kid when advised not to, but did so anyway. The rest is mostly heresay, and that’s what saved him from a manslaughter charge. No one can really “prove” who started it and attacked who first, even though he followed the kid, with a gun, when all he had to do was go home. He called the cops already. He wanted to be a douchebag hero, and ends up killing a kid. But because of how ambiguous the whole thing was, no one can really prove anything.
I just can’t see anyone thinking “Zimmerman got away with it so I can too” and I can’t see the court system being lenient toward similar cases. Technically, I guess it could go that way, but I just don’t see it happening.
