Your Photography

Post some pictures you have taken that you think are real good and explain the situation.

My girlfriend and I went to the smokey mountains. This was a road we drove down.

This is from last weekend at Talladega. I was turning to walk out of the pits and Dale Junior was standing right there. I was very surprised, and snapped a wonderful picture. I wasn’t stalking him, hanging out looking for him, it was something that just happened. Yes I took it. Yes I like NASCAR. I mean come on, even if you don’t like NASCAR - you gotta admit - this picture is bad ass.

Solid pics Slack.

The smokey mts one has a good symmetrical quality: the road spreading out from central middleground to foreground matches the spread of light from middleground up to the background. Wooded areas are sublime and this time of year is perfect for tree photography. Pictures with perspective, such as routeways or corridors, are cool because it adds a destination to the image ie. you’re travelling somewhere (3D). The vaginal analogy is also a welcome topic to get away from all this phallic crap “art critics” see in every painting and photograph up for appraisal.

The Nascar one reminds me of Daft Punk’s ‘Electroma’ because of the helmet. That film, though some might find it tedious , was immaculately shot. The amount of people in the crowds! Is Nascar a thing for all the family as well (like a “day out”) cos thats a lot of people.

I would post some stuff too but am currently out of commission on the digital front and need a new computer to work software so whenever I get my ass in gear I will add.

Both nice pics.

Only suggestion, I would PS it a bit and made the disappearing point go on forever.

Not making sense.

thanks man.

yea, the nascar thing… wow. it is a family affair, and, yes there’s people walking around with missing teeth and car numbers shaved into their back hair - but not as many as you’d think. the tickets to these things are pretty expensive. and the backwoods people that DO go are are really set back by the $100 tickets. This pic below is just one side, there’s another set of stands on the other side of the track.

looking forward to some of your pics. and lemme say i would have thought carmangary would have been all over this with some funny ass pics he made with microsoft paint.

carmangary: what rank?

carmangary, we appreciate your service to our forum–i mean–our country. really. an exercise in discipline.
for that sir, we thank you.
personally, i could never be in the military because of the mouth. i’d be in the gallows in about two seconds.
can’t share any pics b/c …been savin’ ‘em for somethin’ else. my kid’s good at the lens, but not i.

The Norfolk, VA pic (very nice by the way) reminds me of ‘The Stages of Life’ by Friedrich:

glad you posted.

Me and my wife went to NY in June with another couple, and our friends took this pic of us without our knowing right after we got hit by some rain. Her camera did the b/w with color effect, and I like the pic a lot.

Norfolk Va pic looks like a crap load of imperial star destroyers (starwars) coming in to dock!

Funny, I thought the same thing. Great picture BTW.

cool pic killface. some of the best pictures are moments caught. i saw this cool site the other day, the photographer was a guy who was around during the 70s, he’s got some cool pics - all of them are “moments”.
