A good way to get to know individuals on this (new)board (ie get to know where each member is ‘coming from’) would be for each of us to list his/her list of indispensible albums … y’know, the ones you couldn’t live without.
Give it a go and, as i said, it will give everyone a better indication of who you are and where your interests lie. Some of us are more into the metal side of things, some are ‘old skool’ industrial and some are more indie/artsy. This will give you an opportunity to put your cards on the table so to speak.

Seriously though i probably wouldn’t have 1 album created since the millennium just because music meant more to me back then. I’m not motivated enough right this second to try and remember complete albums that were that great but it’d be a lot of stuff in the 85-95 timeframe.
I’d have to have the first half of the cure’s discography including b-sides for sure though.

I have about 500 albums at home - and there are only about 100 or so that I COULD live without. So this is a near impossible task!
Counterparts? No diggity? Man, I fucken love that album longtime, joe. Everyday Glory - the last track and Leave That Thing Alone are aces off that disc. Don’t think they play anything off it on the current tour - which is a damn shame. Anyway…my picks would be as follows:
Rush - Signals
Rush - Hemispheres
Godflesh - Slavestate
Godflesh - Pure
Jesu - everything
Devin Townsend - Ocean Machine
Pantera - The Great Southern Treadkill
King Crimson - Disicpline
David Bowie - Low
Final - 3
Neurosis & Jarboe - s/t
Neurosis - Given to the Rising
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Zombi - Cosmos
Earth - Hex
THX-1138 - soundtrack
Counterparts - definetely an underrated album. They did play Animate during ther R30 tour. I can se both you and Peligro´ve got David bowie´s LOW on the list. Good choice. I´m heavily into the “Berlin years” at the moment. Brilliant albums!! Low, Heroes, Lodger…
Voivod - Angel Rat
Fields Of The Nephilim - Elizium
Ministry - The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste
Alice Cooper - Love It To Death
Entombed - Clandestine
Coroner - Mental Vortex
Skinny Puppy - VIVISectVI
Can you even buy that album these days?? Haven’t seen it in stores for YEARS.
A strange band Voivod - never sure what to think of them. Their early material was atrocious but they gradually matured somewhat over the years, didn’t they.
Is Angel Rat really that good??
Entombed - Clandestine
Coroner - Mental Vortex
That takes me back!! Way WAAAAAAYY back!
I guess you’d be one of the ‘metal’ guys on the forum.
Angel Rat is just one of a kind… Its unlike their other albums, much more melodic and poppy, but still with that inherent weirdness that all Voivod recordings have.
Yeah I guess I’m a ‘metal’ guy, although certainly I have other musical interests as well
Here comes the annoying, unnecessarily long list. These DIDs are near-impossible to choose without a limit. Too much music, too hard to leave anything out. I just had to stop myself at 65. I went with one LP per group, at least, for variety’s sake. I’m probably setting myself up for the firing squad with a few of these choices, but - fuck it - this is what I listen to.

anyone NOT like morricone? how about the birthday party.pop group mark stewart can’t really think in terms of albums. one of the best sounds heard on this planet came from IMPLOG–holland tunnel dive(a 12 inch single).and then of course man machine and everything kraftwerk.
patsy cline.
Impossible to pick a fave Morricone. I have about seven or eight albums of his more…obscure stuff. Don’t really like the spaghetti western scores - nor alot of the more ‘mainstream’ ones like The Mission.
Morricone does good psyche/horror. Check out the score for Excorcist II : The Heretic. One of the best filmscores ever.
Olsen mentioned the Crime And Dissonance compliation on Ipecac. That’s a good place to start for anyone interested in the weirder side of Morricone.
Mr Bungle were heavily influenced by this stuff.

I’m surprised at the lack of essential ‘industrial’ being mentioned in people’s faves (ie Throbbing Gristle, Swans, SPK, Whitehouse, Neubauten…).
More people here seem to be into the more…um…goth oriented 80’s electro ‘industrial’.
It’s a hard choice so i’ll keep it to the essentials
