X-Files

Anybody else stoked to see this flick or is it way past its prime for most people?

Past it’s prime. If Chris Carter and Fox were trying to restart the franchise I think they’re going to find themselves disappointed with the public’s interest.
I’m sure I’ll watch the DVD.

Well I stopped watching when patrick harris showed up so I don’t know how mulder came back from the dead or from the spaceship or whatever happened to him. I figure this Flick will be like the first one meaning you don’t need really need to know anything about the series to follow along.
Anybody know if they are planning on starting the franchise up again.
That inbreds episode was pretty disturbing!!! I bet they could have a hay day doing something like that in the theatres based on the “so much more, over the top crap” they could proabably get away with because movies rules aren’t as confining as tv rules.

I loved the X-Files when I was younger, and still catch the odd rerun now and again. I’m definitely interested in watching this.

I’m so looking forward to this. I re-watched the entire season on DVDs in 2006.

I just want to see Gillian Anderson again…

I just finished watching (took a couple of yrs) all 9 seasons (collector’s edition) and saw the first movie…Yes I’m totally looking forward to the 2nd movie, right around my birthday too.

watched the first 2 series avidly, but it went down hill from there,it was too bogged down with ufo conspiracies

Meh maybe yes maybe no.

Sometimes the series leaves me hanging.

So anyone see the new movie? I’ve never been a big fan of the show but Ebert’s review has me interested.

Eberts feud with vincent gallo was great as well.

Saw it last night. Drama based movie…basically no action or suspense. Good story & direction but not an x-file movie for the fans. I would suggest passing on it.

Ahh, fuck it. I’ma see this anyway.

Also, Revco… Bitchin’ signature. PTP is love.

I definitely agree that Ebert has softened up over the past 10 years. I think that after his numerous surgeries he’s got a slightly more upbeat attitude towards films which is reflected in his reviews. Unfortunately that translates into 3 stars for a bunch of “meh” stuff being churned outta Hollywood. Back in the day though it was great when Ebert would realy lay into a movie, his review of Blue Velvet is so passionate (though wrong imo) that you cant help but like the guy.

What was the feud with Vincent Gallo? Would be cool to see what Ebert made of him, not that im a big fan of Ebert but he aint the worst I suppose (hes a wee bit hard on Lynch but he does acknowledge the genius of Herzog). I dont know about you guys but I cant stand Gallo; hes a self indulgent talentless whingebag from what ive seen.

I believe the Ebert feud with Gallo stemmed from Ebert’s review of “The Brown Bunny”. If I recall he said something along the lines of “Self indulgent, too long, blowjob thrown in for good measure” to which Gallo responded “Ebert has the body of a slave trader”, which is a pretty good comeback. Ebert than replied “I may be fat, but one day I could be thin, but Vincent Gallo will always be the director of The Brown Bunny”. Then Gallo cursed Ebert with cancer or whatever and Ebert actually got sick. Apparently it all ended amicably and the two patched things up. Im not a big Gallo fan either, he seems like he just acts obnoxious for attention. meh.

I didn’t know that story, nice!

Gallo’s personality is a real turn off for me but I have to say that I love both “Buffalo 66” and “Brown Bunny”. I think Gallo’s one of the few people out there to tap in the sub-genre of movies about sensitive heterosexual men’s romantic feelings. I also quite the album he put out on Warp.

gallo is a douchebag but i very much enjoyed buffalo 66. but i’m biased as i lived in buffalo at the time it came out. didn’t care for the brown bunny or any of his music.

ebert originally gave the awful brown bunny review to the cut he saw at cannes (calling it the worst movie in the history of the festival). he then changed his opinion of the film when he watched the completed theatrical version (which was around 25% shorter i believe) giving it a 3/4 rating.

I read he stopped doing the show & the other gut left too.

yeah rumor is they’ll go do their show somewhere else as both said they had new plans for the future within a day of each other. ebert didn’t like the direction the show was going, so he’ll be bringing the “thumbs up” back somewhere else.
