Yeah, I’ve been reading a thread about this on the lollapalooza forum. Rumor is that Jim Martin will not be part of the reunion, which sucks but doesn’t change my level of interest. The only time I saw them live was post Martin anyway. I really hope they make some NA dates that I can make it to.

This is a reunion I have thought about for a while, in that it would be one of the few I would be interested in also.

Europe dates? Double score. This will obligatory if it comes my way.

Oh and I seriously doubt Jim Martin would be with them, didn’t Patton say before that he absolutely hated Martin’s guts and would not even speak to him while recording ‘Angel Dust’. Patton doesn’t seem like a guy who’d just set aside his hatred for a bit more attention.

I think they all hated Jim Martin for some reason.
Jealousy over his Bill & Ted appearance, I bet.

I am a huge fan of FNM, but…I really don’t want a reunion.

well they got this tv show on fuse called metal show or something… and patton was on recently talking about the ipecac toys and they asked about a FNM reunion show. he said that he wasn’t really too interested but if the money was right and it fit in his schedule he’d do it. It’s not like he hates the people in the band and actually was just talking to billy (I think) he said.

At least he was up front and says its about the green, if he was to do it. I don’t really want this to last much either. Maybe a few festivals and a show or 2 in the US. patton’s gone on to much better things and as much as I love this band and kick myself for not seeing them the first time, a close to 40 patton coming out to “from out of knowhere” and doing epic and all that just seems like “eh”. Just knowing it;'s for money kinda taints it a bit. I really want to see that next lovage album come out and then mondo crane.
Unless it’s like they do shitr like just a man, and caffeine (or any of angel dust), and skip out on the real thing shit.
But then again Patton’s got alot of brains and who know what he can pull out from that sleeve of his. Maybe he’ll incorporate the little gear setup he’s been using on his projects lately into the songs and make thigns a bit different

let me tell you that they’ve been asking for a LOT of money to be booked at those festivals in Europe. So money certainly is a big issue here.

Except ‘From Out of Nowhere’ and ‘Zombie Eaters’ I’d pass on hearing that album live.

Give me all of ‘Angel Dust’ and ‘King for a Day’.

FNM are one of the main bands I’ve liked since I was a kid that I’ve yet to see live (with there being a possibility of seeing them live existing).

That’s awesome. I’m just a Mike Patton fan in general though, so whatever he shits out, i’ll likely have heard or likely to at least hear, heh. I like FNM a lot though, so I look forward to this.

Sounds like it could be dope! Hopefully their doing it for the right reasons and not just for $$$, but realistically how much $ could FNM bring in anyway? For me, whether or not to go to the show will depend on how much of the “Angel Dust” album they play.

And I hope Patton stays away from the Melvins for a while… not that I don’t like Fantomas, but I really like the direction the Melvins are moving in right now…

Perhaps someday the great Mr. Bungle will make a return as well.

I’d be much more excited about a new Bungle album than a Faith No More reunion.

word up!

i saw their last gig with jim martin in '93 and they were great and will definitely see them on this tour. incidentally, i don’t think patton’s done anything better than his fnm stuff, he’s still good, but worked better with them.

I disagree. I think his Fantomas stuff was pretty good, and i enjoyed the hell out of his Peeping Tom album also. The guy’s a genius in my eyes.

I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve heard that Patton has worked on (esp. Mr Bungle’s ‘California’) except that Peeping Tom record with the yellow cover that was released a few years ago. I thought it stank a bit.

Ive seen Patton quite a few times live in various configurations (Fantomas x2, with Rahzel, even with DEP) and was always generally blown away by his performance. As much as I like the ‘avantgarde’ stuff he makes with Fantomas, Rahzel etc. I guess deep down Im sill basically a rock music fan and for this reason Faith No More has always been my favorite of his bands. They are at least touring my continent; however, they are asking for an outlandish amount of money so my guess is that they will only appear on the truly huge and expensive festivals. I might not be able to afford to go to one of those.

Oh well, time will tell.

Same situation myself. Personally, could not be a worse time, financially speaking.

have seen patton a few times as well.
yeah, he’s prolific, if not really great most of the time. i do cherish my freebie mr.bungle knit cap, as i still call them. i believe it has a red palm tree on it right above where your nose would be.

from his live shows i’ve seen with every band (except FNM) i’d say that either lovage or mr bungle were the best shows…
as far as post bungle he’s put out some great stuff… Kadaa is great, I think peeping tom was cool, lovage was the bomb, tomohawk, as well as the previously mentioned groups. I was actually one of the lucky ones to be at the very very first fantomas show at the NYC knitting factory, when nobody knew what the hell they were getting themselves into. The only hard stuff I find of his to just sit and listen to is his 2 solo cds. Although i don’t have weird little boy and some of his zorn stuff where he was on just like one track on the cd.

BTW the fantomas/melvins dvd is an absolute MUST get just for the audio commentary alone.

First time I saw them was on ‘The Real Thing’ tour when they opened (with Soundgarden) for Voivod. On of my most memorable shows ever. Small packed venue.

Second time was on the ‘Angel Dust’ tour in a small theatre. They all came out in tuxedos and sounded incredible. Limp Bizkit opened (audience hated them, me included).

I caught the tail end of their set when they played a small festival type thing in Milwaukee. Must have been ‘King for a Day’ tour. There were two stages and they had The Ramones and FNM play at the same time. Only two bands I wanted to see. I chose The Ramones. No regrets.

Like many others, I wish Jim Martin was going to be involved. His playing, sound, and presence brought something to the band that no replacement has been able to do.

I can’t believe how long it has been. I remember buying ‘Introduce Yourself’ on vinyl and ‘We Care a Lot’ on cassette before most people even knew who Mike Patton was.

One of my favorite songs by them is the version of “As the Worm Turns” with Patton on vocals. As for albums, ‘Angel Dust’ and ‘Album of the Year’ are the two I play the most.

When my wife and I were married we used their version of ‘Easy’ as “our song”.
