Phew!! what a nail biting match between USA & Algeria, and it was so late into the game.
One of the most dramatic games I’ve seen in this World Cup thus far. good job & looking forward to their next game.

That was so crucial and it’s great to have a nail-biter. That single goal not only puts USA through but wins them the group and most likely will make them avoid Germany next round. England were desparate despite winning and will likely face the Germans next. Germany have the potential to obliterate them. England’s place in the World Cup is only validated because of the drama it generates and how silly it makes them look.
Things really starting to heat up now.
That was incredible. I was at a pub with friends watching, and the tension was unreal. When Donovan scored, the place went apeshit, it was awesome! We get the runner up in Group D on Saturday, and right now I don’t care who it is, I’m just glad we got through. Huge win for the USA.

Sad to see Aussies go out. If they had not played Germany first in the group I think they could have done better and progressed. I had money on fucking Serbia as dark horses for semis. Assholes. Either way there is going to be one “small” team in semis, probably Uruguay or Ghana due to the routes they’ll have.
But Germany v England & Argentina v Mexico in second round should be great. Also possibility of Holland v Italy and Spain v Portugal (depending on Brazil v Portugal group match in two days time) in second round too.

That’s the difference between football (soccer) and others sports. It may have few goals (points) but when your team scores one the feeling is unique.
And also in America sports are a show, just entertaining at least that’s what it seems to me. In Europe football is almost like war or a religious experience. People really live for their club.

What an end to the Italy game. The last goal was a gem but Italians didn’t deserve to go through. Such a dull team. Pity for the All Whites that they go no further but they should be happy picking up three points and not losing a match; back in 80s and 90s they could have progressed with those results.

Ha! Germany take a stroll in the park and they still hammer England. What English should admit to now is that they’re shit and have been so for a long time. They need to reduce wages in Premiership and take the “celebrity” out of the game and then they might come around.
Also goal line technology is more than essential. Sepp Blatter can go fuck a goat.

I like england. The celebrity thing is pretty meh, but I don’t dismiss them as good athletes because of it. Rooney’s a beast, or was until recently… Heskey ain’t half bad either. Personally though, that goal they got gipped on fucked them in the end. They were down 2-0, decide to turn it up and start scoring at will. When that second one didn’t count due to lack of technology, they lost their confidence, most especially Lampard. It was his goal, then after that, hit the bar. He had a terrible game. None of it his fault either. That goal totally ruined him and the team. They tried harder to come back, but a little too hard. Germany saw it and took full advantage of it.
In all fairness England were terrible throughout. They capitalised on vulnerable German centre-backs but did not look like they could make a goal through open play. Germany were strolling about the place, when they decided to push for a goal they usually scored from it. Germans had expert passing and a proper team mentality, England were complete opposite. Every English player was poor at the this years WC, some were abysmal. I don’t understand people saying Gerrard played well in parts, he was one of their worst. Lamps played better than most outfield players in the Germany game but still was nowhere near effective enough. He was cruelly robbed of a goal but there is very little question as to who still would have won the game. The writing was on the cards from the start of the tournament. The Algeria game showed that England are a terminally ill football team. The win against Slovenia was still a shoddy performance, it’s just Slovenia were atrocious so England looked the better. But laugh at loud at the English pundits who were celebrating the Slovenia game as a return to form. They were in line for humiliation once they paired with Germany. There are dark days ahead for England unless they cop on, drop the dead weight and find some nifty TEAM players.
Look at the U.S team in comparison. The Yanks played well as a team and to the best of their players ability. But their abilities are limited. They need taller players and a better striker than Altidore. Young Bradley is like a young Roy Keane, he is certainly one to watch. The U.S. can come away from South Africa proud of what they did, England must bow their heads in shame.
Argentina v Germany is going to be some game. I’m nervous as fuck for it as I support the La Albicelestes but I fear the Germans will triumph. Either way, whoever wins that match will most likely win the whole thing. I hope Brazil get lumped out asap as they are very unlikeable at present (hate that pup Robinho and that god-boy Kaka). Would be delirious if Chile pipped them. I think Portugal have a real chance. They’re the only team yet to concede a goal and have arguably the best defence (Carvalho is a REAL player, unlike John Terry). The Spain match is a test and a half for them but Spain are wonky, very wonky. I do have money on David Villa for golden boot but I’d like to see Portugal stay in the comp.

I’m thrilled the USA got dumped. I never rated them. They just don’t have the talent. Tenacity, yes, but… the skills just aren’t there.
Argentina, Brazil, Netherlands and Portugal for last for. Brazil for the cup. Argentina as the dark horse.

The debate on the Jabulani rages on. Many have complained, bit others are hitting it sweetly. The Japs know how to hit it, as do the Germans. Some Mexican players have hit it perfectly too. I think it’s like most other things. Practice is needed. Ronaldo scuffs a lot of shots with other footballs too.
Netherlands and Brazil both cant make it to semis as they meet in 1/4 finals if they win their matches today. It’s a shame that Mexico had to go out but yet either Slovakia or Dutch will get to 1/4s, who are both boring and not as up for it as the Mexicans were. But this is the World Cup, where dreams are deluded and autistic Swiss bureaucrats call the shots.
My guess is that Argentina will win this world cup. But with referees being so obtuse even Japan have some chances.
Portugal unfortunately will not win against Spain. I deeply hope I’m wrong but their players are too good. And you’re right Dildo, year after year Terry is considered one of the best defenders and Carvalho is ignored and at least one or two seasons Carvalho was far superior than Terry in Chelsea.

So Spain edge past Portugal. Ronaldo was a nightmare and should be whalloped with balls of his own shite. Had wanted Portugal to progress but have money on David Villa for top goalscorer, plus in the pub I was watching the match in I was absolutely levelled by what was maybe the prettiest Spanish girl I’ve ever seen. Alas, she had shit English (and my Spanish is worse) and she was probably late teens but still… I would have done time for that face.

No. You’ll have to ask evildildo what he meant but Anne scrambled for two years in confined spaces. England were playing like they were living in hidden compartments on the pitch; they had no width, their wingers were usless and generally had the most horrible positioning I’ve seen by a supposedly “top” team in years. When they had corners or free kicks near opposition’s goal all their backs ran up into the box and completely exposed their own goal mouth on counter attacks, most typically seen in the 4th German goal.
