Well, well, can you contain your excitement?
I arrived just as ‘I’m Not Gay’ plays over the PA and the houselights dim…here we go…am I about to be flattened by ‘Breathe’? Is ‘The Missing’ going to finally fuck my hearing forever? Will ‘Filth Pig’ get me leaping around in unbounded joy?
Er…no.
Yep, you guessed it, same old set list with NO deviation. Well played, the rhythm section and Sin played exceptionally well, sound eventually came through, entertaining in and of itself, BUT (and you know what’s coming folks)…
I couldn’t help but feel a little cheated, I so wanted to enjoy the show for what it was, and I guess I did…but as many of our American friends had already said ‘we know you don’t like Bush Al, get over it and roast us with some greatest hits’!!
Yes, I ventured into the pit for a chug around during the old stuff (SW, NWO, J1F, T) but still came away feeling that Jourgensen was taking the piss. I mean, ‘What A Wonderful World’? Really?
I was also a little amazed at AJ’s apparent Ozzy impression. Not much stage movement (never really was anyway), he seemed a little fucked frankly, apparently holding onto the mic stand for dear life at some points during the show, is he not well? Has life in the AJ lane caught up with him at last? He did not look well at all.
And as for Tommy Victor? Posturing and generally fucking up - his playing during ‘So What’ was frankly awful - he was all over the place. All this gesticulating over the fence…come on over here then Tommy, gesture at us up close you idiot! I don’t remember him being like that at Prong shows I saw back in the Ted Parsons days.
All in all, thank you and goodnight Ministry. I’ve been lucky enough to see you when you were a little more on your game. I overhead lots of fans after the gig saying it was a great gig, so what do I know?
