Without//Sympathy – The Visceral Journey Of All Jourgensen

I’ll be at the National history Museum beforehand. No joke.

cool! that’s one thing I love about the LA area so far…many museums.

Whoever ends up going will need to take some pics for the rest of us. [cool]

Cleopatra just announced that Al and Brian Shanley will both be appearing at the event. They have two different posts that also show previews of some of the photos:

those I haven’t seen are pretty cool. I clicked their FB link and it says photographs for sale. If I lived in LA I’d be all over that shit.

DAMN! He’s really been full of surprises lately.

I never realized that TWITCH pic was actually Al. I always thought it was one of those volcano-burned Pompeii dudes or some ancient statue.

whoa…this event just got a lot more cooler. these events, the artists/subjects usually always mingle with the people there. this will be fun! going to rsvp this weekend.may be starting a job around then (fingers crossed) but I need to be there.

I never realized that TWITCH pic was actually Al.

i’ve had my suspicions, but nice to see them confirmed.

over the shoulder single has a different picture/angle from the same photo shoot, and looks more like Al, that’s how i actually started thinking it was him covered in some flour or whatever.

Ha, i never realised that either, i thought it might be some kind of “art” installation or, like you said, some crispy Pompeii fellow.

Love it. I thought it was a statue of some sort as well, though duh the hat he’s wearing in the b/w Twitch promo pics is the same.

The artwork for this album has always been so…odd. I’m used to it, and always liked it, but to border a third of the cover with that yellow-orange, and the small black and red bars, the custom block text…it’s just very different looking. Maybe Al wanted visuals that were nothing like anything Sympathy-related. The chicken scratch text on Over The Shoulder seems to have led to the text design on Rape and Honey and Stigmata.

I’m gonna play around with that ‘full’ Twitch pic this weekend, and design an alternate cover minus the yellowish border just to see how it looks. I’ll have to recreate the text in Illustrator, but that shouldn’t be hard.

Very tempted to make the drive to L.A. for this event. It’s the night before record store day, and I was planning to get to a local shop early to grab the Trax Box. It would make sense that there would be a few copies on hand at this Cleo event, so a fortunate few could grab it early.

I knew it was al but only because a long time ago (maybe even on the old board) there was a thread about it. But back then i was just as shocked you all. I too used to think it was a statue.

Never realized it was Al either…wow…

let us know what happens.

Strange…I always knew it was Al.

…and it parallels some of the art direction at the end of the “Over The Shoulder” music video.

I always thought it was Al, but when I was 17 I did think that there was an Al statue somewhere.

Interesting though, because this pic is a lot more dynamic than the cover. In my opinion.

the end of the “Over The Shoulder” music video.

I’d sooner regret that over With Sympathy…

It would be cool if the artist and/or participants have some talk on the back story behind the images. I get the feeling that there was perhaps a different vision originally for the Twitch concept but that they changed along the way.

Another pic, this one from Brian Shanley’s page on Facebook:

Wow! That one is really twisted. Excellent!
