yeah, that’s how they were trying to get peeps to upgrade when vista came out. DX10 and the upcoming 11 aren’t made for xp.
i ran SP# on XP for about a year and never really noticed anything go wrong or have weird issues like i have had with vista. Vista has not played nice with my 360, and XP machine, or linux when it comes to networking, and i had some usb driver issues (wtf, really? in 2009? for fuck’s sake) when i first got it.
it’s not that i don’t want to upgrade to 7, but i don’t want to pay for it. i’ve worked vista’s issues out for the most part so i’m good for the moment.
It is my theory that Microsoft REFUSES to beta test. So I refuse to buy a first generation Microsoft anything. I flat out refuse to pay to be a beta tester.
BTW WHo else can use the word “refuse” 3x in 3 sentences? Pailhead couldn’t even do it with “I will refuse”

I used to have an MSDN license which allowed me to try out the beta versions of all of the OSs and to be able to get them well before they appeared in stores. I’ve been doing that since Windows 98. I started using Vista well in advance and it has always been as solid as what Win 7 is. The only difficulty I had with Vista was that a bunch of my hardware no longer worked due to not having Vista drivers. That wasn’t a fault of Vista, though. It was the device manufacturers. All of you who, for whatever reason, think Win 7 is even slightly better than Vista are just buying into all of the hype. Win7 is pretty much the same as Vista except for the task bar.
I’ve never had an OS completely melt down on me! Vista did. people bitch and moan about Bugs and what not and I never buy into it cause it never really effected me but I’m completely on the bandwagon with the bugs and crap of Vista just cause I’ve experienced it.

One second I was typing on it. (Posting on prongs actually) it made the beep like it was starting up only it was a longer beep than normal and then it just shut down, no boot down sequence; just off!
so then I tried to start it up and it wouldn’t detect the OS so then I tried to reinstall the the whole OS and it said the copy of of my install disc was an illegal copy (which it was not, it came with the system that I Bought at Best buy) so I get the thing installed but then it would hang after I would select the user to log in. So I would try to reinstall again but it wouldn’t delete anything and so consequently I had like 8 log in names to choose from when I would log in (that’s roughly how many times i tried to reinstall) and everytime it would hang.
SO now I have a boot copy of XP installed on it and it runs just fine with no trace of Vista anywhere on it! (Which I’m happy about cause I bought it as a vista machine but I have a buddy that could completely take vista off with no partition!) SO there you go Meltdown!

I recently dug up the old 1996 X-Files game. I tried to install it on xp and it wouldn’t work. Works fine with Windows 7. [:)] Pretty good game too. totally forget about it…since I played it 14 yrs ago. Skinner, Sully and X are in it so far. Almost done.

There’s a new Aliens game coming out soon… Aliens: Corporal Marines or something… sounds like it would be an updated sorta version.
Yay X-Files game, haha, thats one of those FMV games right, on like 4-5CDs? Never played it, I’ll get around to it one day. Reminds me I must re-install the Blade Runner game and finish it.
My one friend actually keeps an old school 486 dx pc around to run all his old games on. you could probably get the parts cheap online or at a computer show

aliens vs. predator comes out FEB. 16th! Xbox 360, PS3 and PC
the game looks pretty sweet. like the original but alot better graphics.
