Why you don't fuck with Peter Gabriel (and songs from wall-e)

Feb. 13) - Peter Gabriel’s minute in the Oscars spotlight will lack one important element: Peter Gabriel.
The Academy Award-nominated singer won’t perform at the Feb. 22 ceremony to protest an apparently revamped presentation of best original song contenders. Gabriel says in a video on his Web site that he objects to the songs being shortened to 65 seconds apiece and made part of a medley.
"It’s a bit unfortunate because the songwriters, even though they’re a small part of the whole filmmaking process, we still work bloody hard and deserve a place in the ceremony as well,"the 59-year-old singer said.
“I’m an old fart, and it’s not gonna do me any harm to make a little protest,” he added. “But for some of the other artists, it’s not so easy.”
Gabriel is nominated alongside Thomas Newman for “Down To Earth” from “WALL-E.”
The British musician says he’ll still attend the Oscars, but is hoping a gospel choir will stand in for him onstage.
Organizers have warned that this year’s ceremony will be full of new twists, including the way categories are presented. The academy did not immediately respond Friday to a request for comment.

Word.

You don’t screw with the baddest robot ever and the guy that wrote “Shock the Monkey.”

He’s also the guy who gave us this:

Peter Gabriel’s “So” album owns you all.

On that note, I’m going to listen to “Big Time”.

peter gabriel did the right thing.
i still can’t appreciate genesis or any of that, although i met phil collins and he was a straight up guy. who cares.
never liked peter gabriel. nothing there for me. nothing.
he’s probably bryan ferry’s age and i’d rather listen to the Bryatolla.
(back to the book–and where is jizzwad. writing his own, you hope.)

I think we’ve come to the conclusion that he died from diabetes…[:(]

I think we’ve come to the conclusion that he died from diabetes…[:(]

If Jizz had died it would have been on CNN and other major news networks, even the BBC and Al Jazeera:

“Prongs Veteran succumbs to illness”

cue obituary, eulogies and his own place on findagrave.com

my last name is jizzwad.
i am searching for the rest of my family. if you can help, please post message at prongs.org. attn:afra. or special ed.
and i’ll tell you my book title–if you tell me yours.

I hope to Christ not.

You know, I’ve never met the man in my life. I know nothing of him, and he knows nothing of me. Our existences have never crossed paths, save here on Prongs.

But you know what? I’ve drank to him more than I have anyone else lately.

jizzwad was banned.

That must be the first ban here since he was nukefrance, wow. I was gonna say, start a Rush thread, and see if he shows up. Hmm.

1002

He’d seemed so much more tame too. I’ll bet something “behind the scenes” went down.

jizzwad was banned.

No he wasn’t. I’m sure Afra would’ve said something…

Peter Gabriel is awesome. One of the first musicians I really got into.

Even the Genesis stuff is pretty brilliant. Listen to “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” and tell me that isn’t mindblowing stuff.

His magnum opus is The Last Temptation of Christ soundtrack. Favorite album of all time!

jizzwad was not banned and he’s around somewhere.
if he tells me his book title, i’ll tell him mine.
maybe.

We can guess Jizzwad’s book title:

I’ll go with:

‘I Came, I Saw, I Jizzed: A Life of Prongs, Absenteeism and Diabetes’

I’d buy it. No question.

[laugh]

'the prongs vs the piss… diabetes, ministry, and rantings on the nets"

I don’t know anything about jizzwad.

Beyond diabetes (and maybe where he’s from) I don’t think anyone else knows anything about him either.
