Going back to the topic of dissing awards ceremonies,
I’ve been kind of obsessed with sort of following Kanye’s implosion recently (anyone check out his Alex Jones appearance? Yowza!)
I checked here to see if there was an existing Kanye thread to tag onto. Sure enough, there was. Mine, haha. It’s aged… interestingly.
What I was pondering this morning was if he could even put together a concert at this point. The dude is Kryptonite for anyone and I think the logistics of finding teams to do a production/ performance with him is pretty much impossible.
Well, his touring agent was CAA and they dropped him 2 months ago.
But I’m sure some scumbag promoter would take a shot on him though. The techs, as you point out, might be a problem.
I’m also just thinking of how even small black metal club shows in recent years would get stopped because of protesting and pressure from Antifa or other groups. And that was usually some silly marginal case of the artist having said some borderline edgy shit in the lyrics or some questionable symbolism or attire from the past. Kanye’s not even leaving anything open for personal interpretation/ assessment. Dude straight up doubled down repeatedly… “I love Nazis! I love Hitler!” And there’s such a chilling effect for anyone that would typically want to go see Kanye. The weight of the implications if your colleagues, friends, coworkers know you are going to see THAT guy. It’s rough. I actually saw footage of a Kanye show a few years back and it looked awesome. I know they wouldn’t be able to execute such grand productions now, but even so, I don’t need people judging me for going to a Kanye show NOW.
Most big celebs can implode and make a comeback, but he seems to be pioneering his way to complete obliteration with no way back. We’ll see.

If he wasn’t diagnosed bipolar id be throwing out ideas that hes maybe running some kind of game/social experiment. But i just think hes crazy. He’s got/had all that money and still aint in control of anything. I think thats adding to his problem… kinda michael jacksonish. Has all that money and wants what he can’t buy. So now hes gotta blame somebody for his problems. Fuckin sad.

I never liked him, his shitty music or his ugly clothes so none of this matters to me. He’s obviously got mental issues or maybe he just needs a good ass kicking.
I think there’s more chance of a Marilyn Manson comeback than a Kanye comeback. But if he did get a concert together, I wonder if Antifa could get the numbers to stop it. Or would they even try, him being black must be awkward for them, not their usual target. He is mainstream, I’m sure enough of his fans would still show up to push past the Antifa.
His shoes are all hideous looking, but good lord are they comfortable. I’ll put up with the ugly and the expensive to walk on clouds all day.

Do you think Antifa would waste their time? They go after relatively unknowns before they blow up to the size of Ye. Antifa really doesn’t need to target Ye since the country is already against him specifically. I don’t think Ye’s skin color is really a factor for Antifa since it’s more of an Anti hate/oppression thing
Well underground bands with real-or-imagined Nazi connotations usually have those connotations from the start. They don’t have a mainstream career for 20 years where they fill stadiums, then decide they like Hitler. Antifa prefer a soft target.
And/Or a convenient one. i don’t think ye is either of those. I see a difference between ye and some generic david duke types.
Marilyn Manson, I’ve always thought his fascist imagery was more schtick or satire if you will. Never heard of Antifa protesting a Marilynn show. Guess i could google it… lazy
I don’t think Antifa ever protested Marilyn Manson. Back when he got protests it was the Christians. His tour videos “Dead to the World” and “God is in the TV” feature them. But I think if he did concerts now, he’d get some protests over the abuse allegations, from feminist types. Antifa might protest Kanye but they wouldn’t be trying to muscle in and actually shut it down like they do with smaller musicians. I think Kanye would struggle finding people to actually organise a concert with, he’s radioactive now. I think Marilyn Manson could come back if he wins his defamation case.

I don’t follow Kanye West or whatever is going on now with the dude. Did he really say “I love Nazis! I love Hitler!”? If so, I mean WTF?!? People do dumb stuff all the time and can recover over time but expressing love for “Nazis”??? Oh my… You can’t do that. There is no coming back. I have to imagine the guy has some mental health troubles.
Who cares about Manson. He is another one that hasn’t put out anything listenable in over 25 years and is completely irrelevant these days. Even if he makes a return from whatever mess he has gotten himself into, it will suck. I’m confident of that.
Yeah. He LITERALLY said EXACTLU that stuff. I’ve been checking and verifying it because the media and public love to take shit out of context and say someone said or meant something completely different. That was not only NOT the case with a lot of this stuff but when Alex Jones had him on, he kept throwing Ye a lifeline to explain or walk back atuff and he kept doubling down. One of the reasons I have a wife berth for stuff and am careful to not judge or jump to conclusions is because my own aesthetic and sense of humor often puts me in situations where I need to explain to some dullards… “YES, I made some jokes about Hitler/Nazis… NO, I don’t have affection toward either. Let me explain how JOKES work…”. Again, that was NOT the case with Ye.
Now, that being said, I do think this is almost entirely a result of a major psychotic break. It could be aliens. It could be microbes. But I think one of the reasons that it’s easy for him to get stuck on the goofy anti-semitic and Nazi stuff is that there are so many opportunistic parasites happy to feed him more bullshit and aim him toward a brick wall. It’s not like he’s been actually studying History or anything. He admitted on Alex Jones that he “JUST LEARNED” a few weeks ago about Netanyahu and all he really knew was that it was a funny name.
I don’t have anything invested in the guy, and I’m just as guilty of enjoying the sick circus sideshow of this billion dollar train wreck, but I do have some pity/compassion for him just because he really has isolated himself from anyone there to protect him (if any such people ever existed). I’ve not heard any new developments after the Alex show, so MAYBE he’s finally bottomed or had a moment of clarity and can start seeing his wreckage. But… he’s always one to surprise me, so who knows?
If Kanye made Alex Jones uncomfortable and Jones allowed him an opportunity to recover and West then doubled down? Wow!. I would have to question his judgement for simply going on Jone’s show much less the whole Nazi biz. Jones is an idiot.
I admittedly haven’t followed any of this stuff. However, I have to believe that the guy has had some kind of breakdown. Maybe I live under a rock but I just can’t see any sane person stating that they love Hitler. Again, people can recover from all kinds of dumb stuff but Nazi-ism is a bridge too far.

Clearly thats a bad idea and anybody who has any sense of ethics or has read a book with any type of decent conflict or decent plot twist anytime in their life (which he has bragged he has never read a book and yet opened a school) would know “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” is assuredly a bad horse to bet on.
As far as mental illness goes… Ive read he’s been clinically diagnosed with bipolar but that fucks with your highs and lows i don’t think it makes people antisemitic. So he’s definitely mentally ill. So maybe hes got some paranoid delusions that haven’t been diagnosed as well…

I’d give Marilyn Manson 22 years. The mainstream took notice of Holywood in '00, because it was a response to him being railroaded for Columbine in '99, and it had music videos on TV. Probably I just have more to say about Manson than I do about Kanye.
Kanye became known as being a bit unhinged starting with hurricane Katrina when he went off-script and accused George Bush of not caring about black people, and Mike Myers had to keep it together next to him. Next he gatecrashed Taylor Swift’s award speech to say Beyonce should’ve won. Then he made a weird music video where he killed white girls. He was putting out black-power vibes, then after he split with Kim Kardashian he does a music video killing her new boyfriend, now he’s a Nazi. He tweeted threatening “death con 3” on Jews, but there’s no such thing as “death con”. The phrase is DEFCON, which stands for Defense Condition.
He’s clearly having a mental break, but it’s a bit like when Roseanne apologised for her racist tweet by saying she was on some sleeping pill, and the sleeping pill manufacturer replied and said racism is not a known side effect.
