Got it today! I haven’t had a chance to check all of it out but so far it’s better than pale sketches but not by much. still closer to Silver than anything so far. (the Hoody is pretty bad ass too! order a larger size though cause it seems as though everyone is making their sizes smaller “it says XL but it fits like a freaking medium!” luckily I ordered XXL and it fits like a XL nice and baggy!

It’s a brick wall… looks like a very old brickwall or brick building… either way it’s bricks. a really close shot of the pyramid…

close shot of the pyramid i believe is correct.
Hey Grmpy, are you going to pick up a copy of the Jesu/Battle Of Mice split?
And just out of interest, did you know that Justin Broderick has turned down offers from Faith No More, Prong, Smashing Pumpkins, Danzig and Nine Inch Nails to join their bands?
Seriously.
Apparently Billy Corgan offered Justin US$250000 a year plus a house (!!) to join up with his merry bunch of shoegazer pop goth rejects.
That’s more funny than Beck asking Johnny Marr to side with him.
And of course Justin said no (phew).
i find that 250K figure impossible to believe. billy corrigan, for all his assholeness and not quite the caliber of some others, can’t afford it. THAT guy took the first pumpkins advance and paid cash for a house in chicago and the rest of the band were left with wondering.
this rumour ain’t hittin’ the right notes. sorry.
Hey Grmpy, are you going to pick up a copy of the Jesu/Battle Of Mice split?
I don’t know… I didn’t know if that was the title of the cd or if it was a collaborative effort with another band i had never heard of before… or if it was a seperate project or what…So I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I’d been meaning to post a thread about it. Like “Final,” is that a Jesu cd? or a JKB side project?
And just out of interest, did you know that Justin Broderick has turned down offers from Faith No More, Prong, Smashing Pumpkins, Danzig and Nine Inch Nails to join their bands?
Seriously.
I don’t care much for any of those bands except for Danzig. In all honesty it’s probably a damn shame broaderick turned down danzig cause that motherfucker needs all of the help he can get in his old age. Maybe Broaderick coulda brought some respect back to our favorite elvis/morrison mash up! I’m assuming Danzig asked him to help with Back Aria II and that probably would’ve been bad ass!!
I hope you’re not trying to gently imply that ratm and GNR are in the same vain as those crappy bands. (minus Some danzig and FNM) At least ratm has some depth to their lyrics that is severely deeper than just your normal run of the mill “Anarchy for sale” music. The sounds Morello comes up with are creative as well!
Apparently Billy Corgan offered Justin US$250000 a year plus a house (!!) to join up with his merry bunch of shoegazer pop goth rejects.
Blech!!! I can’t stand the Pumpkins… Nothing can save that band!! Or Corrigan for that matter!
That’s more funny than Beck asking Johnny Marr to side with him.
Perhaps Beck was going for the Modest Mouse side of Mr. Marr rather than the smiths?..

for some reason when I was little i thought page hamilton and justin were the same guy
it’s the buzz cut, and shouting.
gotta say, I do love the artwork on this one. got a thing for pyramids. I’ll probably give this disc another spin after I finish up the Melvins “Nude With Boots” , just picked it up today.
The hoodie:
Sorry, don’t know how to put the pics in the actual message.

the remix only available on the japanese version of this release is on jesu’s myspace page.
Alright, I’ve probably absorbed as much as this ep as I can get. I think it’s on par with Pale Sketches. I certainly think that “Fairwell” would fit nicely right before “dead eyes” or right after “dead eyes”
I’m a fan more of the alternate version of “Farewell” rather. I think that warble noise at the beginning of the “normal” one is out of place. I don’t think it’s that saddest song I’ve heard from my limited knowledge of Jesu but certainly has alot of regret/despair in the music. Possibly a guy (or girl) Slowly dying on their wedding day (Literally dying-supposed to be a happy day and yet, so much sadness) maybe being suffocated/restrained and strangled and seeing their life flash before their eyes and all of the noise around them fades out to only a faint hollow opus that is “Farewell” just seems like two competing feelings going on in “Farewell”
Blind and Faithless- really just seems like an encore of “Farewell” probably could’ve tacked it on to the end of Farewell and not made it it’s own track
Why are we not perfect…I just getting the feeling of persisitance with this track SUX to be an outsider but you just keep doing what you need to do. Maybe a little sad but mostly just accpeting of your self and embracing you own person even if you are lonely… nothing immediately jumps out at me. I feel it there, but It’s hard to describe…

with the alt tracks + the stuff from the Envy + Battle of Mice splits, you end up with a nice 7 tracks of the more ‘electronic’ jesu like Pale Sketches was…
I am laughing right now at ‘Billy Corrigan’ ! I used to really like the smashing pumpkins when i was younger, and i even understand that in some circles that’s akin to saying “I have leprosy”
I haven’t heard Jesu before, but my interest has been piqued by all the talk about them on here, as well as talk in stoner/doom circles. I actually bought ‘slavestate’ by godflesh today, but haven’t given a close listen yet. obviously im not well versed in things JKB.
Star is my fave followed by the current ep.
definitely!!! Star is the best track I’ve heard by Jesu (It’s on the Silver EP, Pudding!)
I think I like “Pale Sketches” (as a CD) better than “Why are we not perfect”, Only because there’s more of it. Farewell(alternate) is better than anything on “Pale Sketches” but what “Pale sketches” lacks in quality (for lack of a better word) it makes up for with quantity.
I don’t know your musical tastes Pudding but I know several members of the board don’t think Self Titled is Jesu’s strongest work (But there are a few that absolutely adore it!) I would suggest you start with silver and if you don’t care for it then try the self titled(or vice versa)

Slavestate is madfly lethal. A vast huge slab of industialization that will fry your positronic brain to a crisp. Perfect Skin is my fave.
Fuck yeah, son. I love the dub version of “Perfect Skin.”
Slavestate is probably my third favorite Godflesh record thus far, right behind “Us & Them” and “Selfless.”
Really? Slavestate would be your number 3? I mean… I’m right with you on Selfless/Merciless being the best and followed up by Us & Them… but for 3 it would HAVE to be Pure. After Pure it just gets a bit even on them all as there are lots of things about Slavestate, Godflesh, Streetcleaner, SOLAH/SOLAHID and Hymms that I really like but nothing that grabs me as much as the top 3 do.
Peace!
Krowe
Make no mistake, “Pure” is a GREAT album… but there’s just something about it that doesn’t click with me like the other three do. I’m thinking it’s the percussion. On “Pure,” the drum machine is used more like a metronome than an instrument in some parts. That’s why I really like “Selfless,” “Merciless,” and “Us & Them.” There’s some downright monstrous beats there. Granted, “Baby Blue Eyes” is without a doubt one of the best 'Flesh tracks EVER… but I gotta give the third spot to “Slavestate.” That was my introduction to Godflesh, and “Slateman” kept me wanting more.
DAMMIT, I gotta get some more fuckin’ Jesu…
