Who have you traveled far and wide to see?

This was inspired by filthpig’s post that stated that she travels about ten times per year, many of us traveling far to go to Retrospectacle, and the possibility of another Retrospectacle event in the future. Plus, it’s been nearly four years and I have yet to create a thread.

Who have you seen outside of the state and/or country where you were currently living at the time? Can be by plan or coincidence.

(Please delete this thread if we have one already. I’m too tired and lazy to search right now.)

When I was living in Seattle several years ago I flew into Chicago to see Tom Waits. My friend at the time was a trust-fund brat with lots of cash she never earned, otherwise it would have been financially impossible unless I was willing to Greyhound it.

Denver. 6/3/2010. Dark Castle/Zoroaster/Black Tusk. Best show I’ve been to in a long time on a REALLY shit-tastic day.

I’ve never gone more than a few hours to see a band.
That said, I would travel across the country to see Current 93.

Oh gosh, theres a handful to list off…

in July 2009 I did a week. I went to Phoenix to see an instore, and a concert the following day [Toadies], i flew back to S.F the day after to see Jim Rose, and flew back to phoenix to see marilyn manson, then onto Albuquerque for another Manson show. thanback to S.F for the last Toadies show of the tour.

I do weeks of touring.
I have a great job with a semi-flexible schedule.
Later in Sept 2009, I went to Missoula Montana for manson, Spokane Washington, for Manson, Portland oregon for the Soulsavers, and manson, Milwaukee Wisc. for Manson.

I’m a HUGE Manson fan. I have his portrait on my arm, gave him my blood, etc. go ahead, make fun, but its my life.

Toadies Dec 07: Austin TX, where the vocalist walked me into the soundcheck.
Manson Feb 08 : Salt lake City, the Manson ban had been lifted in Magna.
STP May 08: Carb Day at the Indy 500 raceway.
Toadies Sept 08: Vegas, s.f[which doesnt count as this is home] portland, seattle, boise
Toadies 09: Seattle, Tulsa.
Toadies 2010: Seattle, portland
STP 2010: kansas City Missouri.
I tried to see them in tulsa, but the show was canceled twice… After i booked my flights… Spent time in Dallas, etc.

I’ve only been doing this since I was 20, so not bad for 3 years… I’ve been in and out of 24 airports multiple times and am waiting to see what #25 will be.
June 2011: Mark Lanegan Portland, Seattle, and possibly a show in a cemetery in L.A

Then theres the neighboring CA shows,
manson in Sacramento, manson in Concord.
Nine inch Nails in Mountain View, Santa Cruz
Chric Cornell in Santa Cruz.

I started working at a venue when I was 16. I have a great appreciation for what people create (i went to an Arts high School). Everything just lined up.

I have an official ‘illness’ now, and I could die or go into a coma… Everyone else is really worried, but now I’m just like, woo-hoo, legitimate excuse! //

Never travelled too far from AZ until this year…

1998 - Bauhaus @ Palladium, L.A., At the time, they’d only scheduled 3 nights for their reunion, there wasn’t any talk of a Resurrection tour, so it seemed worthwhile.

2001 - The Cult @ Hard Rock, Vegas, Beyond Good and Evil Tour, I think we were going to Vegas anyway, so it wasn’t a true roadie for this show.

2002 - Wire @ Kasbah, San Diego, only time I’ve seen them live. Great concert (Send era)

2011 - Retrospectacle @ Metro, Chicago, this weekend surpassed every concert experience I’ve had. Worth every penny I spent, and every ounce of jetlag (and now a nasty week-long cold since I got home!)

1002

Before I lived here I flew to LA (from MN) to see the Knife. That’s the only show I’ve done that for. It was awesome (and one of only 4 US shows they played).
