Post what you think would be a satisfying set list if Ministry played it at your show. Maybe I’m jaded by seeing Ministry so many times (I’m certainly not ungrateful), but seeing the set list from last Friday’s show was kind-of a bummer, and makes me wonder why there hasn’t been a whole lot of variety the last few tours (new albums aside), and why 3 entire albums recorded within the last 10 years are getting completely ignored this time around?
Anyway, it’s an ages-old whine about bands not playing certain songs or skipping entire albums in concert, but let’s do this just for fun. Let’s say 15 songs, from LORAH to present, more balanced than last Friday’s set, and songs that you really think Al & Co. could pull off live (in order, if you’re not feeling too lazy). Even if you completely hate the last 2-3 records, try to pick at least one song.
Here’s mine for starters:
Rio Grande Blood
Fear
Lockbox
Burning Inside
Worthless
Missing
Breathe
Lava
Just One Fix
Ass Clown
Animosity
No W
Supermanic Soul
Thieves
Flashback
Yeah, I don’t know about the overall flow, but there you go. Since I heard Stigmata in '96 (sheez, 10 years ago?), I’m leaving it off, though it would be a more realistic choice than Flashback. The latter would certainly be the ‘We Believe’ of this tour.
Well, I like that one. I could live with that. But, just off the top of my head -
Breathe (with some sort of a build-up as an intro, obviously there aren’t two drummers, but still…)
Senor Peligro
Great Satan (original)
Yellow Cake
Wrong (update mix)
Piss
Supermanic Soul
N.W.O. (update mix)
TV II/WTV mix
Rio Grande Blood
Worthless
Dead Guy
The Fall
Impossible
Stigmata
Scarecrow
Something along those lines, anyway. I tried to be realistic, so it’s all still mostly super-heavy stuff…my “ideal” show would be to do all of Twitch, then, Lorah, then Mind all right in a row, but I’m retarded like that.

lol, i posted similar stuff in similar thread here awhile back. my setlist included also b-sides and covers from these album ‘eras’ too. could be great 3-part concert with encore would be of cold life.
A version of cold life done in the band’s current style would be fucking awesome.
Yeah, seriously…I just hope that Spyderbaby is doing the show I’m at…I keep hearing about how crappy this Pit Bull Daycare act is, and if this Spyderbaby character is there, at least SOMEONE will be doing “Halloween.” Even if he does look like Manson’s baby brother…and Dicecrusher, you freaking rock. I’ve been kind of stuck on the song "Over the Shoulder lately…not real sure why, as it was never a favorite, but I’ve just really been digging it lately…an updated version would rule! He could even use the distorted vocals, I don’t care! Just perform something from before 1992, please!
Rumor has it Spyder Baby and the Ministry/Revco camp have parted ways as of early spring 2006. He was originally slated to be the opener instead of Pitbull Daycare, but there you have it.
Well, I posted what I thought was a “realistic” (by that I mean mostly loud) setlist awhile ago, and it turns out that I STILL wasn’t even close…excuse me for trying to cut the band, er, Al some slack by assuming he’d play anything before 2004 (with the exception of the “classics,” of course). Anyway, I was bored and playing with my MP3 player recently, and here’s what I’d like to hear as a concert, just as a fantasy. All the songs work as great live tunes, and every one leads into the next.
Supermanic Soul
Tonight We Murder
Worthless
Dead Guy
Fear (Is Big Business)
Cannibal Song (w/ someone that at leat SOUNDS like Chris. And I want it to end with the crows squawking and everything! And then…)
Unsung
Senor Peligro
What About Us?
Hero
Deity
Wrong (Update Mix)
Rio Grande Blood
Game Show
The Land of Rape and Honey
TV II
Bloodlines
Lieslieslies
No W
Scarecrow
So…a reasonable setlist that actually works song to song, while filling Al’s requirements of mostly ignoring the last three albums and only having a song or two off of the “classic” albums, and completly ignoring anything before 1987. Still, try thiese twenty songs out on your player and tell me that wouldn’t make a GREAT concert!
In keeping with the theme of a vaguely realistic setlist:
Khyber Pass (intro only)
Senor Peligro
No W
RGB
Fear (is big business)
Lockbox
Palestina
Just one fix
Reload
Filth Pig
Animosity
Waiting
Warp City
Great Satan
Stigmata
Encore 1
So What
JBMH
Psalm 69
Encore 2
Brick Windows
I know there’s no way in hell they wouldn’t play NWO, and seeing as how Brick Windows has yet to be played live yet it’s probably never going to be. But still, it’s somewhat realistic and very doable. And I’d be a very happy camper afterwards.
Fuck yeah, “Brick Windows” is the ideal closer for a Ministry show!!!
That would be such an awesome closer!!!
Don’t know why they never did that one live…
Yeah the setlist for this tour is so fucking boring and predictable. Of course the big three (Filth Pig, Dark Side of the Spoon, and Animositisomina) are ignored in favor of bullshit 9 minute versions of fucking “So What” and “Stigmata” or whatever.
