What are you listening to?

The story? No, they aren’t fakes. The Orb got bored and decided to remix some Pink Floyd. That’s the story. =)

I don’t much about them other than that they are real, I have them, they are pretty decent, and are freakin’ LONG. Take for example… Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt. 1… Already a long song, right? His version is 11:12 or so… Money? Now it’s 8+ minutes long, etc.

Most of the tracks are really laid back and atmospheric… Very ambient. Even more so than the originals could claim. While not great in terms of originality and what all he could have done with the songs, they are good if you want a differant take on Pink Floyd for some background noise. I’ll post a few on USendIt or whatever it’s called and let you guys grab a few if you want…

Oh yeah… And yes. I have a massive music collection. Somewhere between… 2000 - 5000 CD’s, around 500 vinyls, and god only knows how many cassettes I have. And this is a small collection. I had my GOOD, BIG collection stolen from me about 5 years back. This is just what I’ve managed to get since then. And on top of that, I don’t even keep most of the stuff I get. I either give it to someone else or just throw a lot of it away. I’m not picky about music, but I have so much and go through so much that I just figure, “eh? Who cares? I’ll get it again if I need to”.

Peace!

The original ‘Money’ is 6:32 long, so it’s not that much longer. And the original ‘Shine On Your Crazy Diamond Pt1’ is 13:38 long…

May I say that I’m really impressed. I have myself 1200 CDs at home (original ones, I hate copies because of the packaging, artwork and so on) and often I’m really sad that I don’t have enough time in a day to listen to more music. That means that there are some releases I wasn’t able to listen to for quiet a while… So what if I had between 2000 and 5000?.. Not to mention the money I’ve already spent on music (I go to every show I can too…)…

jeez, and I’m thinking my collection of 600 cds is alot! ah, I’m still 19 yet, got plenty of time to catch up!

You sound like me about your collection. And about concerts. I go to every show that comes near me if I can help it. Just because there might be one band playing that I want to see out of 5, LOL. And lots of local stuff too. Ya gotta support your local scene, even if it’s not your cup of tea. =)

Off the top of my head -

Penal Colony:Unfinished Business - I loved this album when it came out a couple years ago, and it stays in rotation pretty heavily

V/A: Thugs + Kisses - I scored this for $.01 online a couple weeks ago. Some good tracks from old Fifth Column bands on it.

Schaft: Switchblade - Good stuff from Raymond Watts. Not his best, but the one I’ve happend to grab lately.

Swans:Love Of Life - A classic album, perfect for listening to at night.

16 Volt:Best Of - Just because I sometimes have trouble picking which album I feel like bringing with. Has a decent mix of old and new.
