What are you listening to right now?

Man Or Astroman.
Saw them play a reunion show last night. Always a good time.

What??? I somehow missed this???

I have a video I shot of the Clone Project Alpha tour at the Somber Reptile in 1998 where the band sent out ‘clones’ to play the songs which they supervised via satellite. Fun times.

It was at Whirlyball in Roswell and not very well advertised. I think pretty much just word of mouth, but it was sold out.

Sat up 'til 3am getting stoned and listening to Hellhammer, Burzum, Venom and this…

I put on some trippy acid visuals dvd I bought recently, turned the volume down, turned the volume on the stereo up loud and launched off into space…!

I’m still spinning.

HAHAHAAH. Sleep are one of the best bands to listen to stoned. I laugh because I think of many good times spent [blush]

Bands like Sleep and Earth and Sunn O))) rarely ever get mentioned on this board…other than from the Australian contingent.

Whenever the topic of Sunn O))) for instance arises here, it’s generally followed by a lot of head scratching and indifference.

And yet, mention Jesu…

Never heard Earth, but have heard Sunn O))) before. Not sure how I could describe them if I were to talk about them to be honest. I guess a good mix of Jesu/Final/Lustmord?

Been listening to random stuff though. Soundgarden’s Down on the Upside at work earlier. Some Tears For Fears. Queens of the Stone Age/Them Crooked Vultures (which btw, JPJ has a very interesting bass if you check youtube).

Oh, and I listended to Pure by the Flesh before work this morning. At the bus stop, I was just randomly in the mood for “I wasn’t born to follow”.

If you get a chance to see Sunn O))) live, do it.
It’s quite an experience.

I saw Sunn O))) two days in a row, opening for Wolf Eyes. The second day the show was at an old warehouse turned art gallery/venue. There was a huge wooden maze set up. And each band would play in a different area. Quite an experience indeed.

Right now I’m listening to some guy do horrible karaoke. Singing “Hello It’s Me” by Todd Rundgren

Taking a break from constant Gorillaz to spin the new Zola Jesus EP, it’s nice - dark yet sexy vocals, dirging synths, lo-fi aesthetics and a hint of pop.

Wow that sounds like a fucking dream come true for me. Awesome. I am creaming my pants with jealousy!!! [pirate]

I’ve only heard bits of Sunn O))) and have always thought of them as Sunn O)))ZZZzzZZZZzzzz…in saying that I’ve never given a whole album of theirs a chance…and I always get the urge to buy their vinyl album “Monoliths and Dimensions” at my local record store just because it’s a gigantic gatefold monster.

Sleep & Earth are two other bands I’ve never bothered with…I do however own the Shrinebuilder vinyl…does that count?

Shrinebuilder is bad-ass.
And Sunn O))) is definitely not high energy music. If you’re not into dark ambient/experimental, there’s really no reason to listen.

Jonsi - Go Do EP. It’s interesting.

You have to give Sunn O))) a go.

I realise they’re a bit ‘artsy and wanky’ for some but you need to dig a little deeper and ignore the fanboy hype.

Monoliths And Dimensions can change your life. It’s that good.

I know a guy who is a death/black/doom metal fanatic and whose record collection is a virtual library, who swears it’s the best thing he’s heard since the first Sabbath album.

If that’s not a compliment I don’t know what is.

BUNCHA new stuff.

Die Warzau: “Engine”
Greymachine: “Disconnected”
Killing Joke: “s/t” reissue
Red Harvest: “Cold Dark Matter”

Killing Joke is always playing at my house nonstop.

Alien Sex Fiend - Break Down and Cry (Lay Down and Die- Goodbye)
Pailhead - I Will Refuse
Neubauten - Autobahn

KMFDM - Day of Light
Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis

I may just buy that massive slab of wax then. It’s pretty friggin expensive though at £30…but it is gigantic.
