marvin gaye. a good, solid, respite.
Magical Mystery Tour.
The Corrugation’s new demos and such. Seriously, you all need to do 1002 a solid and check this.
I’m really digging the new direction here. So far, “The Darkest Place” is my favorite track. Thought “Chasing Shadows” would be pretty hard to top, but DAMN. Good stuff all around.
Any plans on remaking some older material in this vein, like “Lab Report” and the like?

Sly & Robbie “Drum and Bass Strip to the Bone with Howie B”

Just bought my ticket to see 'em in two weeks.
Listening to: Current 93 - Chris And The Pale Queens Mighty In Sorrow. And it’s the last track. I should probably get up and turn it off before I go insane.
Stuff I played today, I’ve been in a bit of an atmospheric mood:
Louis and Bebe Barron - Forbidden Planet OST
Synaesthesia - Ephemeral
Jesu - s/t
Chris Connelly - Whiplash Boychild + Stowaway single
Swans - White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity

The 9/8 NIN Fonda show. Damn fucking good!
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilllion. Makes me want to listen to their entire works. I really like how much emphasis on vocal harmony there is on this album, and even with all the hype surrounding this band, it’s truly unlike any music in which I’m familiar.
Flipper - Generic Flipper. Some of the finest post punk out there! Sex Bomb Baby! The tuneless vocals are a bit offputting at first then they add to the charm. The first song will make you reconsider life as you know it.
King Crimson - Absent Lovers. Live versions of the best of their 80’s output which after a few listens renders the studio albums from that era obsolete. Lark’s Tongue in Aspic Part III is incredible.
Red House Painters - Self Titled (Rollercoaster)
My favorite recent discovery in aaaages. Hooked me right away and acoustic guitar based music rarely does that. I feel shamed this band has been there all along and I couldn’t hear them sooner. The longer dirges are my favorites (Katy Song, Funhouse and Mother). Now I’m interested in Kozelek’s other projects.
My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult - I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits. These Remains currently playing…really dig the ethereal vibe.

“Strawberry Jam” & “Sung Tongs” are their best albums, although Panda Bear’s solo album “Person Pitch” is far better than any of them.
I have that album and it blew me away at first listen, maybe because I admire The Beach Boys so much and half of it sounds like what would happen if Brian Wilson ended up collaborating with Syd Barrett or Arthur Lee.
the entire burt bacharach catalogue.
sweet.
The new muse. I’m noticing their songs tend to have a “run to the hills” kinda gallopy feel to them… or at least the songs i’ve heard so far
