i be devastated.
no shame in this corpus.
Palace Brothers
Metallica - Kill Em All
I’ve been on a Alice In Chains kick for the past couple days. Last I heard was their Dirt album.
Just popped in Depeche Mode “On Night in Paris” DVD 5.1/HD. so no one else does the music DVD? wft?
yea i’m still sipping. bwahahah. fuck you all.
i kid.
Botch - “We Are the Romans”
Now I need to go back and give the debut a few more listens…Not really into post-hardcore/mathcore/whatever you want to call this, but this album hits all the right spots. Matt Bayles is the fucking man, I keep hearing new things every time I listen.
David Bowie - “Scary Monsters”
First half is easily some of Bowie’s best. Side two not so much. “Teenage Wildlife” rules so much I actually start thinking about Robert Fripp on stage having a GOOD TIME.
Bergraven - “Till Makabert Vasen”
Everything I could have ever hoped to hear after 2007s astonishing “Dodsvisioner”. I feel kinda sheepish to admit I’m not really a black metal fan, outside of a few bands here and there but there’s a lot in this guys sound that intrigues me to listen. A lot of apparent Crimson influence on this album and the vocals have gotten harsher. Recommended.
Trisomie 21: “Million Lights”
Click Click: “Party Hate”
KMFDM: “Opium”
Shackleton
Been listing to Animal Collective more lately. I think they are really unique, even if I wish they’d try out some darker vibes sometimes. That’s just me projecting my love of evil music onto them.
I saw them live this past Friday and it was great. I really can’t think of a band that sounds anything like them. My friend said they were inspired by The Boredoms, who I am not so familiar with…
And obviously there is some Syd Barret in their sound.
pop group.

Good one. Was it xxxchange (Spank Rock DJ) who was supporting??? It was supposed to be Dubstep don Zomby supporting but he didn’t show…funnily enough the guy NEVER shows for any of his shows?? But why on earth he’d not show for an Animal Collective gig is beyond me considering how big AC are at the moment.
If you dig AC you need to check out Akron/Family.

Also if you haven’t already you NEED to score Panda Bear’s (AC drummer/singer/programmer etc) “Person Pitch”. That album is better than all of the AC albums.
I really can’t think of a band that sounds anything like them…
Beach Boys are the obvious one.
“Person Pitch” is really good. I also quite enjoy the “Here Comes the Indian” or wahtever it’s called AC album. “Merryweather” is not so hot in my eyes, but obviously many others disagree.
I’ve started my own blip.fm station, so you can hear some of what I’m listening to there:
As it’s tied to my yoga stuff I’m not overdoing it on dark stuff, though there may be an evil half brother account on blip for that.
pissed jeans new album, king of jeans.

Yeah it had ALOT of hype surrounding it. It had a few fantastic songs on there but was no where near as good as “Sung Tongs” or “Strawberry Jam”.
Starting to get into Swans. Their later material’s very good, but I have a bit of a harder time with the older material, pre-children of god.
Also, i’ve been listening to Alice in Chains a lot. They’ve got a new album coming, but I think it’s going to be terrible. Can’t stand that new vocalist of theirs.
what’s the problemo with the swans. an acquired taste, but so be it.

Really? I think the dude is a carbon copy of staley! at least close enough for me not to be bitching about them changing the name of the band! I think this new guy sounds closer to staley than the guy that replaced the first ACDC singer, and that guy sounds pretty close!
That’s odd, were you not a fan of staley vocals to begin with?

Layne kicked ass. This new guy just has this annoying voice to him, that sounds way to fancy to even be close to layne. Cantrell still sounds great though. Seems like he’s doing lead vocals on the album while the new guy whines in the background. I know he’s not really whining, but I think he’s kind of annoying compared to what layne did. I’ve heard two new songs and so far I absolutely despise them. I’ll check out the new album, but I think I probably made up my mind about it already… I don’t think i’m going to be counting this one in my AIC collection. Even cantrell’s solo work beats the new stuff, and I found that pretty hit or miss.
I am a huge alice in chains/mad season fan. I’ll probably get the new cd when it comes out but to be honest i’m sticking my head in the sand until it’s released. I’m basically of the mind that I’m going to pretend it’s going to be good, assume it’s going to be good and just get it and hope i’m not wrong.
Although I was really irked that when they first started playing out live again they had to have guests come and sing with the guy for alot of the shows. I’m sure it was more of a tribute to thier dead friend but part of me felt like it was them trying to cover this new singers mistakes or lack of ability to do what layne could with his voice.
Granted Jerry did sing alot of the “hits” but if it was just jerry that was the “it” factor in the band his solo cds would have sold.
