Being a huge proponent of physical media i’ve been on a big industrial binge lately after veering too far off course in recent years. Getting a lot of this stuff recorded on MiniDisc and tape for safe keeping. Mainly the hard to find stuff from lesser known artists like Swamp Terrorists, Scar Tissue, Clock DVA etc.
Boots of course, picking up my year zero at the p.o.,the slip enroute.
Trust me, nowadays you can’t tell if it’s a boot or not, all of mine sound amazing, i can’t complain at all.
Packaging has come a long way, gloss covers, heavy stock covers, none of that soft look reissue covers that are rampant. Heavy weight vinyl…it’s all there.
It’s really all about obtaining what someone doesn’t want you to have yet.
Trent is keeping both of these in his back pocket for ever, so, I’ll take some back right out of his back pocket…no remorse!!!
I believe I read somewhere that Trent issued Year Zero Remastered to streaming services, but fat lot of good that’s going to do to the vinyl and MP3-collecting crowd. The Slip (hugely underrated, btw) has, to my knowledge, never been re-released.
I’m glad to hear the boots are increasing in quality. I’d be into that, but I don’t have a turntable, and I know if I bought one, I’d go on a financial tear buying records despite my relative poverty. The idea of vinyl never clicked for me; the thought of having to get up and flip the record so often makes my legs ache.
Wow! Superior quality, the slip actually includes a bonus lp which was a april fools joke release called strobelight, al’s name made the credits.
Beautiful super high gloss covers no seam splits.
Highly recommended.
Year zero is a super high gloss tri fold cover, amazing sound quality, I’m done, not buying the legit copies IF they even get a vinyl reissue.
Both incredibly high quality.
These guys puzzle the shit out of me. Not the music itself, or the costumes, but the sudden popularity. This is not the kind of music I would expect a viral sensation out of, but here we are. A few weeks ago, I logged into Facebook, and articles and notices about AdP made up maybe 80% of the content. Good for them, I guess?
FWIW, I think it’s Buckethead and Zach Hill in the costumes.
They remind me of Primus a little. It’s fun to watch the guitarist barefoot & looping sounds, etc. I was watching Rick Beatos’ Rush interviews & they came up with a quick video he did.
Stumbled across AdP a while back. I thought they were semi-interesting at first and did get a bit of a Primus vibe as well. However, I quickly became bored with them and absolutely can not stand their stupid costumes they are wearing. Seriously, take dumb shit off.
Just bought both 320 mp3 off bandcamp, lot of info online, from canada, definitely a buckethead type influence.
Seen both lp’s listed online but didn’t click yet, glad this popped up here, very interesting almost surf vibe but with an edge.
Update after a listen, absolutely reminds me of the deadlies.
I get that, but without the charisma that les claypool brings.
I think it’s probably good for a novelty nothing more than that. I gave it about 15 minutes and I dipped
