What are you listening to right now?

The Halloween III score is awesome, it might be my favorite Carpenter score outside of Big Trouble in Little China. Agree with dicecrusher, the Tron score has some cool Carpenter vibes to it. The vocal tracks are all bangers and catchy as hell.

Hell yeah, thanks for posting this. I’m a huge fan of richard patrick.
not really a fan of the screech vocals but I like the lighter vocals and all of the guitar parts.
funny richard patrick used be part of NIN so they could both get NIN credit. LOL
I think because he was all over PHM is probably why I like him.

Listened to TRON:ARES. Boring. I mean I know it’s a sound track but it’s just f’ing boring. Trent needs to ditch Ross and run like the devil is on his ass.

Reznor hasn’t put out anything worth listening to in ages. At this point, he can piddle around with sound tracks until the end of days.

So true P67. I like the single but this soundtrack didn’t grab me. Just like most of sober Trent’s output.

Trent’s new one…

I actually liked the last few releases from NIN (the EP trilogy). It was really experimental and pushed the boundaries of how far the NIN sound can go. “Add Violence,” in particular, is quite good. As for his soundtracks, most of them are quite boring.

That EP Trilogy is awesome. Add Violence is probably my favorite as well. The Background World is definitely a top-tier song for me.

The scores can be really hit and miss. The first three (Social Network, Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl) are all absolutely incredible. Watchmen might be their most varied film score and worth a listen. Mank showcases that they can do the big band/Jazz sound and it’s definitely a highlight. Then there’s the rest that have very enjoyable moments, but tend to fall into similar sounding territory and don’t leave big impressions.

Tron is a good mid-tier soundtrack for them, but those 4 vocal tracks are awesome. I wouldn’t mind a full length NIN album (with vocals) in the same vein.

Dusted off and pulled this old gem out.

You might want to check out the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” soundtrack by Trent & Atticus, which is pretty funky. The “Challengers” soundtrack was Boys Noize’s first collab with Trent, but it holds up as a short, hard-hitting techno album.

A friend of mine (Revok who used to frequent these boards) also recommended the “Tron” soundtrack - so I gave it another try. I definitely liked it better the second time. I think knowing it’s a solid Trent/Atticus soundtrack album blended with the a new NIN EP helped me approach it differently. Giving it space, it’s definitely one of the better soundtracks I’ve heard them do recently.

I do a weird thing where I pick 20 albums to download on Apple Music a month and 95% of my listening for the month is those (there are a few other idiosyncratic rules I won’t bother you with). I picked this, so will listen to it a few more times and see how my take on it grows.

Ozzy - king biscuit flower hour 1981 aka live in Montreal 1981.

This was the worlds 1st broadcast with newly hired randy rhodes.

I remember capturing the the broadcast in 81 on good ole q95. Used maxells best tape available back then, it sounded incredible on my all alpine system.

Theres also a king biscuit 1986 featuring jake e lee. Also killer!!

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I get Alex and Geddy want to play music, however, it’s just not Rush without Neil. At least for me anyway…

John Carpenter scores (Village of the Damned playing now). Tis the season.
