Files. I can’t remember where I got it from but from what I gather a physical copy is hard to come by. I could send it in on in bits (or pieces/sections/slices/whatever) if you so wish.

There’s only three official releases of “The Shining” material.

One is the Warner album (vinyl only) and the other two are “Rediscovering Lost Scores Vol. 1 and Vol. 2” on CD only.

The Wendy Carlos tracks on the original vinyl album are versions as they appeared in the film and both these versions are not on the “Rediscovering…” CDs (copyright issues). The version of “Rocky Mountains” on the CD is shorter and the “Main Title” on the CD features more instrumentation than the original one.

The rest of the music (Ligeti, Penderecki, Bartok etc. etc.) can be found partly on the vinyl version or on several other releases. So if you want a “complete” score, you’ll have to buy quite a bit of various works…

ALL OTHER releases of the Shining soundtrack on CD are home-made, mostly cheaply-made CDRs of doubtable quality. I would recommend not to buy any of these (so-called “special edition”) CDs. You’re better off buying the vinyl release and the 2 Wendy Carlos CDs and scratching together the remainder of the tracks and so generating your own “special edition” score

The version I have has the Carlos, Penderecki, Bartok, Ligeti tracks and that old timer song at the end. It’s someone’s compilation. Most of the tracks are grand but some are scratchy vinyl recordings.

Chrome - Half Machine Lip Moves

‘INLAND EMPIRE’ soundtrack.

A masterpiece. A great journey in itself regardless of the film.

Current 93 - Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain

Since I shelled out extra dough for the subscriber edition, my name and picture are in the poster that comes with the cd (along with about 200 other people). Prongs’ own Chris Connelly is given special thanks on the album.
Which means I am now only 1 degree musically removed from Chris Connelly - and we’re both only 1 degree removed from pornstar Sasha Grey.

Damn, another Prongs first. Never thought I’d hear Chris Connelly and Sasha Grey pop up in the same sentence. One hell of a combination, if I say so myself.

Anyway…

Dream Theater: “Train of Thought”
King Diamond: “Them” remaster
Immortal Technique: “Revolutionary v.1”

What is the new album like??

Well, as usual with Current 93, that’s kind of a difficult question to answer.
I’d say it’s more psychedelic than the last one, and noisier. Lots of guitar feedback. You can tell Tibet’s been influenced by Om and Sunn O))) and bands like that. Which is not to say there are no quiet moments, but it’s definitely got an edge to it.
