Dude so glad you posted this, had no idea it released today. Keeping an eye out for the mail! This is what I love about preordering.
On another note, currently listening to Rush - permanent waves 40th reissue. This is such a great record.

What I heard was FLAC…waiting for the 5.1 mix to come in the mail. I’ve played Animals maybe 100 times + so I’m going quiet granular with this remix. Give it a week or two and lets hear if u feel different.
Oh yeah…lol, been waiting for this one for a while. Enjoy it! Permanent Waves…great one for sure & the 40th rocks! Freewill is in my top 10 with RUSH.
Alien Sex Fiend - Maximum Security
Metallica - Kill 'Em All
Julee Cruise - Floating Into The Night
Tygers Of Pan Tang - Spellbound
My wife and I have been listening to the first two Julee Cruise albums a lot lately. Really great.
I’ve got that Permanent Waves reissue… outstanding album…
Thanks for the reminder on Animals…gotta jump on that…my desert island Floyd album for sure…
Don’t forget the moving pictures redip, the 5 vinyl set comes with a complete live show from the early '80’s.
My animals reissue showed up this evening. Only made one pass, the Blu-ray 5.1 DTS master audio (of course). It sounds different to me. Certain items are louder certain items are softer. To me, it didn’t sound as bright as the original stereo mix I have been listening to since I was in my teens. It’s sounds good, but a bit more thick. Again, it’s my first pass. I’m like queer_bait, I LOVE this record. I’m not really sure what to think about it yet. I will say the 5.1 is great. Richard Wright’s synths (minimoog model d) and his Hammond b3 sound fantastic! I’m going to spin it more but just wanted to post after my first spin. Cheers.
Anyone else have an opinion on this new mix? Do you guys think this mix is different? I mean yea, it’s surround now but I’m speaking of mostly the levels of the elements,
For example, in the original at about the 6:25 mark on sheep there’s been this highly affected spoken word thing it was hard to understand, in the new mix you can clearly hear it’s waters reading something and it’s less effected. Check it out. And let me know if I’m all wrong here.
It actually sounds brighter and cleaner, but I’m not entirely sure that makes it better.
Very well could be. I got a new denon amp (AVR-S660H) earlier this year, and i can’t get this thing dialed in. its decent for passthrough 4K video 60 hz refresh rate, but the audio isn’t a good as my SONY. Again, maybe it’s because I havent’’ dialed it in yet. The denon also sounds like shit on some good ole 2.1 stereo cranking. i’m not so sure I like this amp.
King Dude - Death
Clutch - Sunrise On Slaughter Beach
I meant to type “brighter and cleaner TO ME,” btw. I could be objectively off.
I listened to the new Clutch last night in prep for going to see them next wk with Helmet and Quicksand…good shit… short and sharp…

The Cramps- Songs the Lord Taught Us
I highly advise you get there early enough to catch JD Pinkus (the opener). He used to be the bass player in the Butthole Surfers, and played with the Melvins for a while, too. Now he plays warped banjo and does magic tricks (!). I was going to go myself but I don’t like Clutch, don’t care about Quicksand, and Helmet is waaaaaay too low on the bill to pay the price of a ticket.
Ever seen Clutch live? Might change your mind about them…they are definitely a live band…
I really dig Quicksand and they were a big selling point in me going since they so rarely tour…
Helmet comes on right before Clutch…not sure what you mean by “waaaaay low on the bill”…
But yeah I knew who Pinkus was and have seen him with Melvins and the Surfers…didn’t know about the Banjo nd the magic tricks though hahaha…will definitely get in there early to catch that…
It didn’t’ appear that way from the ads for the NY show. shrug
Yeah look like Pikus fist,Quicksand second,Helmet third and the Clutch…
