For me his catalog from Man Who Sold the World to Scary Monsters is pure perfection…
Pin ups…
I listened to this last winter. On a long car journey through snow covered forests and icy mountain ranges. It was blissful.
Yeah his ambient stuff is sublime…
I just found out that Brian Johnson’s pre-AC/DC band, GEORDIE has stuff on YouTube and, holy shit, it is absolutely sublime! Got the tasty melodic groove of glam rock monsters like THE SWEET with huge Tom Jones style macho swagger and vocal perfection. I can’t believe how good this is and I’m bewildered how I’ve never heard this band discussed before. Gives me a new respect for Brian Johnson too.
A few months ago I went on a Geordie tear and played all of their albums in chronological order…some of that stuff is really good…Johnson didn’t have as much gruffness to his voice until some of the later albums but he sounds great throughout…trying to remember the name of the one I liked best…let me check
No Good Woman, that was it…although that first album definitely has some of their best songs…I just like the overall sound and vibe of No Good Woman best…
Oh hell, I would have never known that was Bryan Johnson if you hadn’t said anything… He looks and sounds nothing like what I’m used to. Usually his newsie hat and a whiskey/cigarette drenched falsetto… They sound good, Kinda surprised they weren’t bigger in the states. the song sounded really tight.

Really wild video for nightcrawler on the tube.
Absolute must buy/download.
I just listened to the first 7 Izzy albums over the last 2 days…Ride On was definitely my favorite of that batch although I liked them all…so yeah very good call there, grmps…Ride On is really really good…even the instrumental was on par with the rest of it…very consistent all the way through…I actually saw Izzy in a very small club in Orlando back in the early 90s(it was actually called The Station and was owned by the same people who owned the one in R.I. where the terrible fire happened at the Great White gig)…it was in support of the JuJu Hounds album, which I think is great…
River was really strong too…I never knew Duff was on some of these…also didn’t know Ian Mclaglan was either…he is known for his work with Small Faces and Stones…anyway, lots to dig about these solo records…Izzy always was the heart and soul of Guns…good on him…
Yeah, Ride On is the strongest for me too, but they’re all good. I love that solo at the end of Here Comes The Rain. I think it’s funny they never announced when members were on the record… I mean, I guess it makes sense that they would be, but I also never noticed Matt Sorum and Duff were on the first snakepit album too. I didn’t know Duff was on any of the Izzy albums. I thought Izzy just played shit himself or used session guys. (I don’t know who that Ian fella is, you speak of)
Oh, yeah, Izzy WAS the gnr song foundation. I know AXL is the voice and Slash is the lead soloist, but none of that shit comes together without the solid song writing that is clearly Izzy. Izzy was the engine of that group, and everybody else provided the flair. Don’t get me wrong I like flair I love Slash’s flair, but it takes the 3 of them to put out something extraordinary. I just think of the tasty riffs Slash coulda put over Izzy’s solo efforts, and we’d be 2/3 of the way to a guns record.
Individually they are all not bad, but together they’re just something that doesn’t really come along all that often. Slash is by far my favorite component, but there is no denying the chord structure and rhythms that Izzy brought to the group. His vocals aren’t half bad either. Glad you dig it.
Yeah Duff is on the first 4 (117 through On Down the Road)…man,I’m really digging Like A Dog and Miami a great deal the more I listen to them…this shit is really growing on me…I should have dove into these sooner…some really solid rock n roll…
Iggy and the stooges - fun house
Michael Schenker Group -s/t
The Doobie Brothers - Minute By Minute
The second single from the new Ozzy album with Iommi on guitar and Oz wailing on the harp…I like both singles quite a bit…this is the best stuff from Ozzy in quite a long time, imo…anyone who is expecting another Diary of a Madman probably shouldn’t hold their breath…it ain’t gonna fuckin happen…but for a guy in his mid 70s who should have been dead 50 years ago, this is fun stuff…hey at least it doesn’t have Post Malone on it…
Yeah man, I like the Tony tune. Both tunes are pretty good so far.
