What are you listening to right now?

Yes indeed a very good point…they are more in the spirit of The Stooges, MC5 ,Alice Cooper etc than they are fuckin Country Joe and the Fish…

Exactly!

RAMONES - ROAD TO RUIN…By far one of the greatest lp’s out there.

Src=scott richards crew.

Btw I’m a rock auto-biography/biography fiend like you and I’ve gotta get that Dennis Dunaway book soon…really interested to read about that era of Alice…

Recently finished the Pete Way, Dio,BOC and Rob Halford books and am looking for my next read…

Thanks for reminding me! I definitely need to get that Halford one.
I most recently read the Ice-T one from 10 years back. It’s excellent! He covers his whole career, starting from his criminal past. Great stories.

Yeah I read the Ice T one… incredible shit…Body Counts in da House!!!

The Halford one is great…so god damn triumphant…he definitely doesn’t hold back on stories about his sexual encounters…I read alot about a stuff I had no idea about haha…

The Pete Way one was pure debauchery…you know you are fucked up when Ozzy says you are too fucking out of control to be in his dressing room.
.

Now we’re talking. I love some huey! “If this is it” is probably his finest song. I could always listen to Huey Lewis.

Really? I can’t imagine detailed gay sex would be a selling point to Alpha Hetero metal heads. Which, I thought, was Judas priest main demographic…

Priest fans are really diverse, actually. And Rob’s appeal is really broad. While there may have been a tiny subset of insecure meatheads that got spooked when Rob’s orientation was made open, he also by default became another (and absolutely the fucking coolest) gay icon for some. I’m certain there are plenty of people reading Rob’s autobiography who aren’t even metal fans or even Priest fans.
Hell, I read and enjoyed a few autobiographies from the dudes in KoRn, and I couldn’t care less about their music.

Rob Halford is gay?
No!

Anyway, I’m listening to Abba, so who am I to talk?

Yeah Rob’s sexual orientation was the worst kept secret in the industry but somehow wasn’t widely known by the fans…when I look back now I can’t believe how naive I was…but then again I didn’t care anyway…the book is incredible on many levels…the stories about going to glory holes included😮

SOLD! Hahaha!

Greatest emoji ever for that sentence.
I wasn’t downplaying Halford for being gay or anything, I just was more making a point about gay literature (Which is what it will be casted as if the book starts to take off) being more of a niche market, even with Halford’s mainstream appeal. So, while, he does cross demographic lines musically, I couldn’t imagine the majority of middle America would be willing/wanting to hear about his sexual exploits since average male heterosexuality demands that everyone be terrified of a dick that’s not their own. I couldn’t imagine it selling as well as if Kid Rock was writing a womanizer tell all, You know what I mean? Ultimately, not trying to saying anything bad about Halford but more about the response he would get from average people.
I feel like I’m rambling here now and not coming off all that articulate with what I’m trying to say. So, I’ll just see myself outta this thread.

Our country and culture has shifted a lot in recent decades. Most people really don’t care if someone is gay. Also most people don’t read, haha!

Right, but they still don’t wanna hear about it.
In general, talking about how some beefy guy sucked your dick on friday night is not going to met with the same glee that some hot woman sucking your dick on friday night would be. I’d say the country is in the “No details please” phase of its gay acceptance. “Gay is fine, whatever, I just don’t wanna hear about it or see it” is how I would gauge my understanding of attitudes towards it. I remember a few years back there was a Florida or Virginia ‘travel to our state’ commercial and because it included a gay couple along with straight couples in the advertisement people were freaking the fuck out. “They’re shoving gay culture down our throat.” and all because they had two dudes holding hands in one scene and kissing in the other. I’m still seeing backlash because they are including gay people in the medicine commercials. While it’s better than it was as far inclusivity, I don’t think it’s where it should be just yet. So, maybe Halford is helping with that by doing his part, but still kinda surprised me.

Ha Ha, thought you were going somewhere else with the start of that sentence.

He talks more about how elusive love was in his life for so long and some of it very moving stuff…dude sacrificed alot for Priest which he maintains to this day is the thing that means more to him than anything else…he does throw some salacious sex stories in there… apparently he liked to frequent truck stops that were known hangouts for glory hole activity…and it seems there is a whole protocol for conducting oneself in these situations…he says one dude would go in a stall and then another dude would walk in and sit in the stall next to him…then one dude would move his foot towards the other stall and then the other dude would follow…they do this three times until eventually their feet touch under the stall…once that happens it’s fucking on!!! Dicks through the hole, bro…when they were done finishing each other off they would walk out at separate times without even seeing the others face…fucking risky wild shit…I won’t give away any other stories but wow some of it is pretty incredible…

Did he do this stuff on tour? Must’ve pissed the bandmates and crew off to no end.
“What? Rob’s still in the loo??”

Yeah he did it on the road… apparently at some point in San Fran he was given some pocket guide to all the various gay spots all over the country like a back pages type thing…back when this sort of thing was very hush hush…so he would go to these different spots to hook up…he even says that one time he went to one of these underground clubs and saw Freddie Mercury there…they didn’t speak but kind of gave each other a knowing glance and wink…

Apparently his band mates always knew but never asked him about it or brought it up…meanwhile all the people at the label were trying their hardest to suppress any word of it getting out…it was a very difficult thing for him to live most of his life in the closet until he eventually famously came out, which obviously was very liberating…and he eventually found love when he turned 40 and is still with the guy to this day…

So queer baited to death, would probably ruin the smell of a fart.
Certainly did this thread. And we can tell it takes you at least 20/30 min to post.
I know rob personally, he hates queens.
