Although I love King, I never got into Abigail 2: The Revenge. The only one I don’t like from King! Major disappointment when it came out.

Haven’t yet listened but I take this advice.

Give it a second chance when you get some time. I panned it for a long time too, but revisited it a couple years ago and it was fucking awesome. Not as strong as the 80’s/ 90’s stuff, but I think when an artist has such a flawless record for a while, we tend to be overly critical of slight dips.

Anyway, maybe you’ll still hate it, but I think it’s worthy of a retest.

I was thinking of listening to it again. I will and provide my thoughts on it again.

nope.have you

nope have you

I think you’re lying.

I just gave it a poke today too. Not sure it it hit you the same way, but I think what caused these early 00’s albums to fall a bit flat is the production. It was the apex of ProTools and Line6 amps and all this jibber jabber that led to some rather sterile-feeling vibes overall… versus 80’s Mercyful Fate and King Diamond albums that had massive swinging balls and a deliciously organic evil rawness to them.

These early 00’s album have great musicianship and writing, but the soul doesn’t glow as warmly. If you take it for what it is and not compare to other KD stuff it’s still quite good, though.

Metallica - The 30th Anniversary Celebration, Nights 1-4

Run The Jewels 4 (I know I’m late to the game; I heard it for the first time a day or two ago on a long drive up north and was blown away, if for no other reason than the dynamite production)

Fantasia soundtrack

Pixies - Surferosa

My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade (incredibly catchy; both myself and this band are slavishly devoted to epic 90s concept albums with loud anthemic power chords and show-stopper singalongs)

Definitely no disappoint. On my third listen. Not as good as Abigail or Conspiracy. Much better than House of God.

Favorite tracks - Miriam, The Crypt.

I only discover The King three years ago maybe.

I can’t remember ANYTHING about “House of God”. I’ll have to give that one a respin too, haha.

And CONSPIRACY is my favorite KD album, for what it’s worth.

I really like House of God.

I was really underwhelmed by them… I found them years ago because Zach De Rocha did a track with them and I thought they were thoroughly, meh. I haven’t heard anything since.

To each his own, of course, but my mind was blown by the production on “3” and “4.” I don’t even pay attention to the rhymes, just the music.

I pay attention to every aspect of RTJ…they are outstanding in my opinion in every phase of their music…they are a blast live too…one half of the members (El -P) has been making underground hip hop for years and years and used to run the Def Jux label…the rhymes are we great as the music…if you like 4 then you should seek out the prior 3 definitely…

Glad you guys dig it… Maybe the de la rocha track sucked… I thought I listened to one or two more but I could be wrong.
