Which Living Colour album?

NP:
Morphine-The Night

Living Colour- Stain. My favorite (and first purchased) LC record, even though it doesn’t truly represent how the artist usually sounds. Another album in a very similar category would be the first Fishbone record I ever heard – Give A Monkey A Brain – which is my favorite FB record, even though it’s more metal and funk than ska and soul.

Living Colour - I like the first 2 but didn’t listen to anything after that.

Oh but DO listen to Stain, then. It’s basically LC’s more aggressive facet taken to the nth degree.

I bought LC vivid for Cult Of and that is the only song on that record that sounds like that… let down

Stain is my favorite LC album also…the first with the great Doug Wimbish who is a way superior bass player than their original bassist,Muzz Skillings…I saw them on that tour and they absolutely destroyed it(they still do to this day)…

Give a monkey…by Fishbone is an incredible record from the same year as Stain…also saw Fishbone on that tour and they were primal and fierce…they put on some of the best shows I ever saw back in late 80s/early 90s…

Vivid is their 1st album…so I mean,it all sounds like them…maybe you are saying the others on there don’t sound like Cult…but really, there are some songs just as heavy as that one on there…
Their second album,Times Up is all over the map like Vivid but I like it a bit better than Vivid…Stain is when their sound got a bit more streamlined I to something heavier and more consistent…bringing in Doug Wimbish changed so much…his playing is just on such a different level(his resume is hard to believe actually)…he wad basically the Sugar Hill records house bassist as a young man and then when Tackhead popped up he became the resident bassist for the pioneering and incredibly prolific On- U Sound label run by Adrian Sherwood(who produced Twitch and hundreds of other projects)…an astounding bass player who does things with the instrument that you won’t hear many others in the world do…

Yeah i meant the other songs aren’t as heavy as cult. As a matter of fact the song right after cult is this slow like motown rock (if there is such a thing) that just stops the energy of cult dead in its tracks. I wasnt into anything other than cult off of vivid

STP - Tiny…expanded

I don’t know much about the expanded issue, but I think Tiny Music is really overrated. The critics worship it because it represents a shift in sound for the band, and I get that, but it usually leaves me cold. I much prefer “No 4”.

How funny ive never dug anything past purple. I had no idea tiny was revered. I got the super deluxe core reissue that is awesome!!

Captain Beyond- s/t
Captain Beyond-Sufficiently Breathless

King Crimson -Larks Tongues in Aspic
Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy
Hawkwind-Warrior on the Edge of Time

Technical Ecstasy being reissued…SW remix!

Technical Ecstasy was my real first intro to Sabbath in early high school. Gypsy was so trippy…a strong favorite of mine.

Downloaded this a few days ago. Decent heavy shoegaze / alt metal. What I really want to talk about is the bizarre front cover. WTF is that?! It looks like something you’d encounter while tripping on acid at a rave. You’d be looking for the bathroom, pushing aside knots of people, only to turn the wrong corner and run smack into that. What is he doing? Is he vomiting Hawaiian neck gear? Does he have a beard made of bubble tea? Anyone?

Looks like some kind of flowers. Blurry as hell, but think see green down low for a stem. Pink and yellow flower buds, but not sure what they might be.

With a name like Wildhund…yeah looks like flowers and he is in water. At first…kinda looks like a spine.

That’s what I thought. Looks like he’s wearing a purple/pink leis draped off of his ears and I thought a superimposed spine in front of his chin but upon closer inspection it’s probably just yellow flowers that haven’t been looped to make a necklace. He’s definitely under water.
