1991 album - noise/jazz/dub/metal trio comprised of John Zorn, Mick Harris and Bill Laswell. Killer stuff.
I’ve always said if you can’t enjoy an album with a name like Guts Of A Virgin, then give up on life right about now.
I have the Painkiller Collected Works, a 4cd compendium of their entire output. Definitely recommend this one chaps - it’s only US$50 on ebay too so there’s no excuse.
I don’t want to sound whiny by posting my sad-sack playlists from the last week or so.
However, the new Mastodon is out today, so I’ll be adding that to my library this evening.
I’ve only heard maybe one Mastodon song, but oddly enough my old band played a show with some of their members a decade ago when they were Four Hour Fogger at the old 9 Lives Saloon. Nice guys.
I got the ten re-release from best buy yesterday too. I got the one with the dvd, thoughi haven’t watched it yet. I think I like the new mix better. Regardless this morning I listened to the new mix, and i’m honestly surprsed that I was interesed in listening to this cd again.
Ive actually been listening to old Prodigy lately.
I’m seeing them tonight at the Roseland Ballroom. I like some of their new material. The shit from ‘Fat of the Land’ is so fucking played out though. I never understood why none of their other material ever had any impact in the States…
VERY analog-synth-driven. I’m talking real time knob-twiddling, the bleeps, the sweeps, and the creeps, pops, buzzes, the whole shebangebang. The beginning of track 1 sounds like Kraftwerk’s Radioactivity LP. I guess this band doesn’t do punchy drums anymore, this album is 90% 808’s or something similiar. Decent melodies, nothing jumping out yet (only listened to once), Alan Wilder is still sorely missed. The single “Wrong” kinda sucks. The jury’s still out, time for another spin.
