What are you listening to right now?

Ah! A cornerstone of my musical foundation, the Beasties. Even when one of them got kind of in your face about religion (at least it was Buddhism), even when they got hypocritical (calling out the Prodigy for “Smack My Bitch Up” when you’re well known for “Girls,” the most misogynistic song ever), I never lost my love for them.

2 preorder tracks from “maya” john frusciantes new album.

I love John Frusciante. The trickfinger stuff is fun. Great solo stuff. RHCP stuff is good. IMO one of the best guitar players we have making music today.

He has a sizey solo career, his stuff is super very expensive, htf 1st press vinyls, i got several but not all of em.
His most incredible show of all time is woodstock '99. It was a pay per view back then, i got it uncensored on vhs.
Flea was totally nude the whole show.
Also marks Anthonys short blonde hair.
Chad was an absolute monster on this show, even more than usual. I have seen dvd boot but know nothing of the quality.

I wane hot and cold on the Chili Peppers, but one thing remains clear no matter how I feel, and that’s that Frusciante is a great guitar player (the best they’ve ever had, that’s for certain). Sometimes I feel like the Peppers’ more “mature” albums (“Californication,” “By The Way”) are just collections of very solemn wet willies, but the truth is, the guitar is always amazing. Flea and Chad are pretty great, too. (Kiedis, I don’t really know what to do with.)

Hahaha!

Yeah, I can’t stand them. I dug “Higher Ground” when I first heard it back in the day, but it’s been mostly crap since.

Roger Waters-The Wall:Live In Berlin. Just picked up the clear repress for Record Store Day (along with Nick Mason’s A Saucerful of Secrets which I haven’t had a chance to hear yet)

I once had a VHS of the Berlin show way back in the day, but never bought the audio release until now. WOW I forget how fantastic this show is. The guest performances and updated versions of songs are stellar. Very happy.

In other Floyd news, the complete and remixed Delicate Sound of Thunder (as heard on The Later Years box) is coming on vinyl. Super excited for it.

Got this in the mail today…Pink Floyd Volume 4: 1970: Devi/ation blu-ray boxset

I have it as well in the box set. Definitely an improvement over the original.

Seems like Echoes is the only track missing that was played on this tour:

Echoes – Played in September 1987

Not even wearing a sock?

I’ve pretty much soured on the Peppers long ago. All their music from one hot minute forward sounds the same. I can pretty much tell a peppers song from the opening note. It’s all touch feely mopiness. I’m just not into it…

Ha Ha!! Songs like “Higher Ground” and “Give It Away” were spicy and deserve the band name “Red Hot Chili Peppers,” but everything after the “Blood Sugar…” album should be under the band name “Rotted Avocado.”

But just to be clear the frusciante solo stuff is 100% nothing like RHCP, no similaritie whatsoever.
You would actually find it impossible to lable.
On niadres and usually just a tshirt he actually plays in reverse as opposed to just production tricks.
Supposedly has the biggest/rarest guitar collection out there.

I got nothing against Fruscianti. I know he’s universally respected by all. I swear Guitar World is in heat over that guy (at least they were in the 90’s when I had a subscription). I honestly Don’t know if I’ve ever really heard anything by him, All the RHCP stuff he’s on is drowned out by Anthony Kiedis’ mewling vocals and Flea’s sad bass. I just don’t pay them any attention any more. Really wish they’d go back to funk instead of these soundtracks for sad, single women doing yoga.

Cool, Floyd has said that they consider the quad mix of Darkside was the “Definitive” recording of that record.

Here’s one of John’s most accessible solo tunes.
