A stone cold classic. Go directly to “Whiteout” for an earth-shattering 4 minutes.

Weyes Blood going on tour opening for Nick Cave…makes weird cosmic sense…

I hope the tickets aren’t too expensive. I saw Cave’s solo tour last year, so I can’t be TOO heartbroken if I miss it. 'Cause I’m excited, but I also don’t want to drop triple digits per ticket.

I used the pre-sale code to check ticket prices for the bad seeds tour, and at least where I’m at they will be triple digits for general admission. $99+ fees. So I’ll need to think about that.

I’ve been listening to this band Blood Incantation a lot. I don’t know how you guys feel about death metal in general, but these guys seriously take the genre to a brand new level. It’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, I’ll grant that, but I’ve been easing myself into the scene for about three years now, and I can safely say these guys are the best example of what they do who are currently still doing it.

Along the same lines, the new Cattle Decapitation is great. I never thought I would listen to a band with such a disgusting name, but you can’t judge a book by its cover. (See: Butthole Surfers, Rotting Christ, etc.) This is more death metal with occasionally clean vocals, but the neat aspect of CD is the synthesized vocal distortion. Reminds me a lot of what Ogre does on some of Skinny Puppy’s albums.

Apparently there are some affordable nosebleed seats in Atlanta, so I’m just going to go with that. Gotta make sure I’m free to login tomorrow at 10:30 or whenever it is, I expect it will sell out (although when I saw him last year in Nashville there were still some cheap seats left).

Grimes - Miss Anthropocene

What do you think of Grimes? I think it’s pretty great.

Currently listening to: the new Body Count. Shocking – it’s actually quite good. Best album of theirs since the debut.

Yeah, I’m really enjoying it. A little weirder than Art Angels, which I like.

I just got into Quicksand. (I know, I know, I’m late. My musical knowledge, vast as it is, suffers from frequent gaping holes that are filled decades after they are formed. God, what an awful, rambling metaphor.)

I’m also enjoying pre-“OK Computer” Radiohead. For years, I ignored “Pablo Honey” and “The Bends” in favor of the band’s later work, but going back, I find myself really liking it.

Fake plastic trees has got to be one of the saddest fucking songs ever recorded. I think it’s his voice combined with the music cause the lyrics arent all that sad but jesus if that song isnt the sound of sadness.

It’s definitely up there. Radiohead do the mope-rock thing well – almost too well (e.g. “Exit Music (For A Film),” “All I Need,” “True Love Waits”). Especially “True Love Waits,” which made me cry – and that’s coming from someone who laughed when Bambi’s mom died.

Both Quicksand albums fucking rule hard…

NP: Mind Funk-Dropped

There’s actually three of em (one came out pretty recently)!

Supertramp, “Retrospectacle”
Body Count, “Carnivore”
Raspberry Bulbs, “Before The Age Of Mirrors” — fucking brilliant occult crust-punk, give it a shot, it’s like the Birthday Party with black metal guitar

Oh that’s right I forgot about that recent one…never did get around to hearing that one…gotta do something about that…
